Obituary: Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Plain Dealing at 1:00 PM on , 11, 2015, for Mrs. Lois Bernice Rodgers Kidd, a longtime resident of Franklin, LA who passed away peacefully at her home on , 28, 2015, at the age of 97. Lois was born May 13, 1918 in Plain Dealing, LA and was the fourth child of Alice C. Rodgers and Rufus P. Rodgers. Lois completed her Bachelors of Science in education at Centenary and Arkansas State Teachers . While beginning her teaching career, she became the beautiful wife of Dr. Milton B. Kidd, Jr., on 8, 1946. In 1947, the couple moved to Franklin, La where Dr. Milton Kidd became an early pioneer for contact lenses and Lois pursued her teaching career with St. Mary Parish Schools. Lois continued teaching for over 30 years. During her 68 years in Franklin, Lois was involved in Fort Nightly and a devoted member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She believed in philanthropy and community involvement. She also had a passion for genealogy and was crucial in completing the research that allowed her grandchildren to become members of the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Milton B. Kidd Jr., her parents, Rufus and Alice Rodgers, sisters, Lyda Salmon and Mary Liberto, and brothers Ernestine Rodgers and Wilburn Rodgers. Lois is survived by her son, Dr. Milton B. Kidd III, her granddaughters and their husbands, Christi Kidd-Villa, M.D. and Michael A. Villa, Jr. and their children Charlotte and Michael Villa, III, Colleen Kidd Supple and James B. Supple, Jr. and their children Charles, Jackson, and Fredrick Supple, and her grandson and his wife, Milton B. Kidd IV and Amy Sydboten Kidd. Lois is also survived by her nephew and his wife, Charles and Patria Rodgers, as well as extended family. Affectionately known as Mimi, her grandchildren have many fond memories of growing up next door. Lois further enjoyed creating fun memories with her great-grandchildren. Everyone will remember her beautiful grace, warm hugs, and special chocolate chip cookies. We wish to mention a special thanks to Linda Baker, Sheila Bailey, Elizabeth Johnson, Janice Choplin, and Sarver for their loving care and time. Obituary: Joseph Benton Kidd, 89, passed away peacefully at Magnolia Assisted Living in Gonzales early , 23. A native of Baton Rouge, he grew up on St. Phillip St. and attended Catholic High and LSU, earning a BS in Forestry and an MS in Wildlife. A quiet, gentle man of deep faith, he served valiantly in WWII, fighting in Patton's army in the Battle of the Bulge and earning a Purple Heart. He spent his entire career at the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries, retiring in 1989. He was an avid outdoorsman, nature-lover, and LSU fan to the end. Preceded in death by beloved wife Gwen of 46 years, parents Myrtle Mary Dupuy and James Marion Kidd, brother James Jr., sister Ann and brother-in-law Claude. Survived by brother, Al and sister-in-law Rosemary, children Ann, Lynn, Karen, Joseph Benton Jr., and Michael, son-in-law Bryan, and grandsons Mason and Nico. Loved by all who knew him, he will be deeply missed. Visitation will be at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 12pm 27, 2014, until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30.
