Obituary: Keller, Helen, Irene, 82, of Wichita, Kansas passed away Tues. Feb. 23, 2016 in Wichita. Helen was born on Feb. 25, 1933, on a farm near Montrose, Colorado. Her parents were Myrtle Irene (Hawkins) Anderson and Arvid Hilding Anderson. The Andersons obtained a divorce and Myrtle, Helen’s Mother, Married Edward Bennett when Helen was 2 years old. Therefore, Mr. Bennett, Helen’s stepfather, became her father figure. She carried his last name until she married. Helen attended the Oak Grove Elementary School, near Montrose, Colorado, through the 8th grade. She Attended the Montrose High School for several months of her Freshman Year. The family moved to Winslow, Arkansas, where she finished her Freshman Year in the High School there. Her sophomore Year was completed at University High in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The junior and Senior Years were completed at Green Forest Arkansas, where she graduated in 1951. Soon after graduation, she came with a girlfriend to Wichita, Kansas, to find employment. Helen worked at various jobs until she found a job she really liked. That was doing office work at the Bible Budget . She worked there until 1957. Helen was working at Bible Budget when she met Rolland (Mike) Keller. were married on Aug. 2, 1953. To this union were born 2 children, Rollyna Irene and Kevin Brent. During the years that the children were attending Elementary School, Helen did not work outside the home so that she could be with her children and be a housewife. She did take care of some other children in her home during part of this time. The year Rollyna graduated from High School and Kevin was ready to begin Junior High School, the Kellers decided that it would be good for Helen to find employment outside of the home. She was employed at the Sedgwick Courthouse as a clerk of the District Court. She found this to be an enriching experience as she learned many things about the Court System, becoming acquainted with many wonderful people that also worked there, and enjoying the contacts she made with the public and the lawyers. working there for over 15 years, she decided to retire in of 1991. Since her husband had already retired, they were able to travel together. were able to visit all 50 states in the United States and many of the Provinces in Canada. Helen’s love for her Lord was expressed in many ways. She had Gift of Hospitality and loved to open her home to numerous Church activities and to serve meals that she had prepared for the people from her church, her friends and family. She has worked in various Children’s Ministries and Ladies Groups. She served as School Teacher, Bible School Director, worker in CYC, Treasurer of the Ladies Mission Group, and Steward. She enjoyed working on Church Boards, Pastor’s Cabinets and as a Church Greeter. Her cheerful greetings and delicious meals were deeply appreciated by her church family, her friends and her family. A deep appreciation for her family was expressed by her love and encouragement. She was extremely proud of her daughter, son, son-in-law, daughter-in law, grandsons and granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Rolland (Mike); Daughter, Rollyna (Lyna) Hull; Son, Kevin; Son-in-Law, John Hull; daughter-in-Law, Tamila (Tammy) Kindwall-Keller, Grandsons, Joshua and Michael Hull; Granddaughter, Victoria (Tori) Keller, Brother, Ed Bennett; Sisters, Dorothy Dolloff, Joy Wendt, Mary Wright and Marjorie Moon. There are also a great host of friends and other relatives that survive her. A visitation will be held on Fri. Feb. 26, 2016 from 6 to 8pm. services will be 10am on Sat. Feb. 27, 2016 both at Lakeview , 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Pastor John W. Hull will officiate. Entombment will follow at Lakeview , Wichita. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Rivercrest Free Methodist Community Church, 136 N. Emporia St., Wichita, Kansas 67202. |

Obituary: Georgia Lee (Hupp) Keller, 96, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died 13, 2015 at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, Kansas. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Georgia Lee was born 29, 1918, in Butler, Missouri, to Agnes Christine (Black) and Joe C. Hupp. During grade school she always described herself as a tomboy who could run faster than the boys. In her freshman year at Butler High School, Georgia Lee was chosen Queen of the annual Fall Carnival. Memories of Butler and the lessons she learned there stayed with her throughout her life. Before her sophomore year, the family moved to Kansas City. Georgia Lee attended Central High School, graduating in 1936, where she earned membership in National Honor Society. She took part in many activities and was president of her Thalian Literary Society and the Zoology Club, a member of the Student Council Cabinet, and an R.O.T.C. princess. She represented her literary society all 3 years in the annual Inter-society Literary Contest. The first woman in her family to go to college, Georgia Lee attended the University of Kansas City (now UMKC) on a scholarship, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1940 and graduated With Distinction. She was president of her sorority Sigma Beta, today a chapter of Alpha Delta Pi national sorority. She was elected Class Secretary in both her junior and senior years and was a beauty queen contestant for the 1936-37 issue of The Crataegus, the early name of the KCU yearbook. graduation she worked one year for an insurance company in downtown Kansas City. Georgia Lee married her high school sweetheart Robert M. Keller in Kansas City on 20, 1941 at Country Club Methodist Church. The newly married couple drove to Corpus Christi, Texas where her husband reported for active duty at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, and they began their married life. During World War II, they were stationed also in Miami, Florida, New York City, and Philadelphia. In New York City, Georgia Lee worked as secretary for Charles H. Higgins, architect, in his office on Park Avenue, while her husbands ship was at sea. In 1946 they returned to the Kansas City area where they lived the rest of their lives. Georgia Lee was secretary for Science Pioneers, Inc., during seven annual Greater Kansas City Science Fairs. She was a member of the Meriweds class at Country Club Methodist Church and a long-time member of Kansas City Athenaeum. She was an 18-hole golfer in Indian Hills Country Club Womens Golf Association, a member of the Mission Hills Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution, 40 Years Ago Column Club, sororities of Sigma Beta, Mu Kappa, and Tri-Psi Mothers Club of Delta Delta Delta national sorority. She was a charter member of stead Country Club and of Tomahawk Hills Country Club, today Tomahawk Recreation and Golf Course. She was an excellent swimmer, and won trophies in golf, bowling, and bridge. Georgia Lee is remembered for her lifelong love of learning. She loved to travel and kept detailed journals. She and Bob were in all the states, except Alaska, and traveled to Great Britain and Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Egypt, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and China. On one trip she and Bob drove through Spain, exploring on their own, he at the wheel, she with the maps. For many years, Georgia Lee and Bob enjoyed attending his ship reunions of the USS Susan B. Anthony. She was interested in everyone. Her positive attitude and quick laugh endeared her to all. Georgia Lee was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Bob of 72 years in 2014, by her sister Jo Ann (Hupp) Anderson, of Costa Mesa, California, in 1981, and by her brother Thomas William Bill Hupp of Orlando, Florida, in 1971. Survivors are her sister-in-law Susanne Hupp of Orlando, FL, three children, Sharyl Lee Wright (husband Dr. Ron Wright,) Marsha Jo Keller, Kimball Scott Keller (wife Carolyn,) grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
