Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Velma was born 19, 1921 at home in rural Des Moines Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Marie (Wagner) Wilke. She was united in marriage to Russell Kenneth King on 19, 1949 in Davenport; he preceded her in death in 2000. She attended Long Creek #1 Grade School and graduated from Danville High School, Class of 1939. She worked at IOP, Wells Lamont Glove Factory and then became a professional seamstress. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Davenport. She enjoyed her family, her church and cooking, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles and loved to laugh. Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Mildred Thomas, Danville, IA; nieces: Sheila Kroll, West Burlington, Libby Pate, Davenport, Nancy Rowley, Burlington, Connie Nealey, Danville and Martha Manning, Pittsford, NY; nephews: Jerry Lee, Burlington, Steve King, Davenport, Bob King, Davenport, Lance Thomas, Middletown, IA, Rodney Lee, Show Lo, AZ, Craig Lee, Austin, TX and Daniel King, Ankeny, IA; many great nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Juanita King, Taylor Ridge, IL; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Obituary: Shawn M. King, 54, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away on , 8, 2016, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, after fighting numerous cancers for 7 months. She was previously employed at CDS Global in Des Moines, Cargill in Fort Dodge, and as a drywall finisher at Allied Construction Services in Des Moines. She is survived by her husband, Scott King of Boxholm, Iowa; daughter, Lyndsay (Josh) Camp of Des Moines, Iowa son, Bryan Robinson of Bismark, North Dakota; grandsons, Joshua Camp and Nickolas Robinson; parents, Richard and Carolyn Owens of Des Moines, Iowa; siblings, Robin (Rusty) Hill of Perry, Iowa, Christopher Owens, and Andrea Owens both of Phoenix, Arizona; stepson, Robbie King of Boxholm, Iowa; sister-in-law, Brenda King Reimers of Boone, Iowa; and many cousins, friends, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Obituary: Mr. Russell Jay King, age 78 passed away early on Dec. 7, 2014 at his home near Swan, Iowa. Russell retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service at the rank of TSGT. He had worked for Carriage House Furniture and had two years with the Postal Service out of Des Moines. Russell enjoyed Fishing, hunting, SAMs BAR, Driving Gravel Roads, owning Kings Green House with his wife Karola; his parents had owned it before them. Surviving is his wife, Karola; sons Elmer Joe King and wife Maggie and Mike King and wife Tonya; daughter, Christina Manuel and husband Randy Manuel Sr.; grandchildren, Tara Gordon, Cameron King, Randy Manuel Jr., Chelsea Jordon, Nicole Manuel; great grandchildren, Rylee, Kobe, Gabe, Madden, Echo and Bentley.
