Obituary: Peoria.Phyllis Joyce (Luther) King, 83, of Peoria, passed away 14, 2014 at Grandview Alzheimers in Peoria. Phyllis was born 12, 1931 to us Logan and Mary Caroline (Robertson) Luther in White Oak, MO. She is survived by her husband Caroll King who she married on May 9, 1953 in Holcomb, MO. She is also survived by her children, Gary (Kathy) King, Barbara (Tom) Stoneman, Karen (Brian) Jensen and Charles King; grandchildren, Susan Borchardt, Stephen and Brian King, Taylor, Andrew, and Lara Jensen; four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and four brothers. Phyllis graduated from Southwest Missouri State with a Bachelors degree in Economics. She taught at Holcomb School District and Fordland High School, both in Missouri. She concluded her successful working career as an Executive Secretary at North Platte Research and Extension Agency. Phyllis family was very important to her. Whether as Mom, or as the youngest in a family of 11 children, she was selfless and always helped in any was she could. She was an exceptional cook and a very talented seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed vacations and traveling, especially by car, around the country. services will be held at 11 AM, 18, 2014 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton in Peoria. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to the time of service. Pastor Michael Shirey will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview in Pekin. Obituary: KING, Philip R., 65, of Odessa, passed away on , 24, 2014 at home. Mr. King served his country proudly in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. Following his military service, he was in law enforcement beginning with the Capital Police in Washington D.C., later ending his law enforcement careers as a Pasco Deputy. He then enjoyed a long career as an aluminum contractor until his retirement. Mr. King is survived by his wife of 25 years, Norma; daughter Allison Hudgins (Ken); son Jeremy Harris (Sara); four precious grandchildren Brianna, Kylie, Dylan and Aidan; two sisters Janet and Susan; niece Emily Bittinger and cousin Bobbie Akers. He is also survived by several brother and sisters-in-law, nephews, many friends and his loving four-legged companion Izzy. Obituary: PEKIN – Peggy Marie King, 87, of Pekin, passed away at 9:20 a.m. , 14, 2017 at her home. Born 1, 1930 in Pekin to Walter A. and Bessie M. (Johnson) Schaefer, she married James E. King on May 6, 1955 in Peoria. He died 1, 2002 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers. Surviving are two daughters, Julie Hamm and Jennifer King, both of Pekin; two sons, Jim King of Spring Bay and John King of Pekin; six grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) King, Bryce King and Devin King, Donny (Sarah) Schorr, Vanessa Schorr and William Hamm; two great-grandchildren, Sierra King and Oliver Gillespie; one sister, Mary Kay Coon of Pekin and her grand dog, Mr. Pickles. Peggy graduated from Havana High School in 1948. She had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria in the engineering department in the 1950’s. She later was a crossing guard at “King’s Corner” for Lincoln School from 1968 to 1978. From 1978 until her retirement in 2007, Peggy worked at Pekin Community High School in the Dragon’s Den and as Student Supervisor. She was a former recipient of the Illinois American Legion Woman of the Year and was a past Sergeant of Arms and current member of William Schaefer American Legion Post #44 Ladies Auxiliary in Pekin, which was named after her uncle. She also was a former member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869. Peggy was an original “Pink Lady” at Pekin Hospital, volunteering from 1966 to 2000. An avid fan of the Pekin Dragons, St Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals and her favorite player, Yadier Molina. Peggy loved to read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, even if it meant sitting in the cold at an ISU football game watching her grandson play in the band. Peggy was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Harbor Light Hospice, the Physical Therapist at Morton Terrace and the staff at UnityPoint -Pekin E.R. and 4 North Floor. Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. , 19, 2017 at Preston-Hanley s & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Carole Hoke will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
