Obituary: Michael G. Joyce II went home to be with the Lord 29, 2015. He was born 26, 1969 in Bay Shore, NY, son of Michael and Maureen Joyce now residing in Naples, FL; brother of Jennifer Joyce Johansen and Uncle to John Carl Johansen also of Naples; grandson of Carl and Norma Antiou of Naples, and the late Gil and Rose Joyce of East Islip, NY; beloved nephew and cousin to many aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael graduated from East Islip HS and then earned a Bachelors Degree in Education. His passion was teaching in the childrens ministry at church. He was involved in personal training and the health and nutrition industry. He will be remembered for his amazing faith, his sense of humor, his love of lifting weights, boating and the beach. He had a very special bond with his nephew, John Carl, who he adored more than anything. A Celebration of Life will be held , 3rd, 10:00 a.m. at Capri Christian Church on Isles of Capri. The address is 111 E. Hilo Street, Naples, 34113. Michaels story. When Michael was 3 months old, he was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called Diamond Blackfan Anemia. He was able to enjoy a close to normal childhood despite this illness and its implications. His mother, Maureen became a nurse during his early childhood so she could best manage his care. His Grandpa Joyce was able to connect them with good specialists in the country for the best possible care. In 2007, Maureen gave Michael a kidney which failed about 4 years later. We could write a very long essay describing the hospitalizations, complications and symptoms that this disease and later the kidney disease caused; but although these struggles were great, Michael always persevered; this did not define him!! He would not let it. The Lord placed a beautiful Godly family across the street from us on Matinecock Ave. in East Islip. It is there that Michael was introduced to true Christianity at a Bible Study, facilitated by Max Wilson. Michaels life was transformed after that. He made a decision to accept Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He put his life and complete eternal trust in God. He was always very happy and optimistic, never complaining about his struggles. From infancy through adolescence, Michael and his family and their dog Heidi lived on their boat at Atlantique, Fire Island. These memories which included carefree days with friends, endless hours in the ocean and having fun on he little boat, were some of the best memories of his life. When you live at the beach, you generally cruise around in a bathing suit, but Michael often carried this minimal attire even into the winter months. In spite of his disease, he was an outstanding wrestler. He wrestled for the Bay Shore kid wrestling program and one year came in second in the county. He lost only one bout in his 3 years of wrestling for the East Islip Junior High Team. Michael had a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Anyone who knew him knew he loved to teach. He worked with elementary students but his passion was teaching the kids at New Hope Ministries about Christ. He wanted to share the gospel with all he came into contact with------- In 2000 he was part of the family business that had a GNC vitamin store on Marco Island. He successfully ran the store and built the business up because of his engaging personality and knowledge of the product that had most of Marco Island coming to him for his sage advice. It wasn until his health took a turn for the worse that the business had to be sold. Michael had the gift of prophecy, which means he would speak the truth in all situations. Sometimes this meant being very blunt, never sugar coated. Michael was very comical. He had a great sense of humor. What really stands out is the fact that Michael was always funny, but completely unaware that just being Michael was hilarious. Even though he was very straight forward, he had a tremendous heart for those he loved. He loved to purchase gifts and books, especially books that would help others grow in the Lord. He loved spending time with his family especially his nephew John Carl. He taught him how to box and lift weights and loved spending time with him. Michael worked out since he was 11 years old. He especially loved to lift weights. If he wasn lifting weights, he was most often reading the Bible or a book about the Bible. His family is grateful for his wonderful Bible studies, on Long Island and in Naples—his love of God and his knowledge. Because of Michaels devotion to the Lord and his ability to teach his family about God, we are better Christians because we had Michael in our lives. For that we are eternally grateful. |

Obituary: Joy A. Joyce, 80, of Edgewater, FL passed away on 18, 2015. A Florida native, Joy was born on 17, 1935 in Starke, FL to the late Bill and Avy (Starling) Hines. She married H. Richard "Dick" Joyce and together they shared 46 wonderful years. Joy was a loving wife, a caring mother, and a wonderful grandmother. She spent her life raising and caring for her 8 children, her family being her greatest legacy. Joy loved to fish, shrimp, paint, watch baseball, and play bingo. She also enjoyed her game shows. Joy will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in passing by her sisters Janet and Judy, and her brothers Ronald, Roger, and Ralph. Joy is survived by her husband, Dick Joyce; son, James Joyce (Kortney); daughters, Kristi Wells (Steve), Jackie Selman (Matt), Melanie Miller (Ted), Suzanne Salley (David), Sandra Kimball (Randy), Wendy Cochran, and Roxanne Hadden (Ronnie); brother, Johnny Hines (Andrea); 16 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.
