Obituary: JAMES R. JESSELL, Sr. FOX News lost one of its ardent fans when James R. Jessell, Sr., an honorable Attorney for over 50 years in Lee , passed away on May 22, 2015. James, also known as Jim, served in the Navy during the Korean War on the SS Catamount. the war he moved to Punta Gorda to be closer to his parents, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Kidd, his wife of 50 years. The two then moved to Gainesville where Jim received his B.S.B.A. Degree from the University of Florida in 1957. Moving then to Fort Myers, Jim practiced as a C.P.A. for three years before returning to the University of Florida where, with the help of his amazing wife, he earned his LL.B. in 1963. Returning back to Fort Myers, he served as a prosecutor for the City of Fort Myers then, as Judge of the Lee Small Claims Court. eventually operated their own law practice in downtown Fort Myers. We say hey because Jim always said he had the degree but Ann was the attorney. In 1965 Jim and Ann purchased a house on Grace Avenue in Fort Myers where they created a home where everyone was welcomed. Raising, loving and spoiling their sons James R. Jessell, Jr. and George Paul Jessell were their proudest achievements. That was until the grandchildren came along: Aaron Jessell was the first and did no wrong, Carrie and Ada-Marie Jessell were just the smartest grandchildren on earth, Erik Jessell was the most athletic grandchild and Melyn Jessell had the kindest and most loving heart of anyone he had met. Family always came first and that is his greatest legacy. Their home was filled with love and laughter at all times. Friends came over nights to play cards, drink a few beers, and laugh their weekly troubles away. Family came over to feel loved, enjoy a good southern meal, and sometimes rest a weary head. Jim was a quiet man, however loved to be surrounded by people laughing and sharing their stories. Hearing their stories and adventures allowed him to live vicariously through others, especially his surviving brothers Richard and Edward Jessell. Jim was admired, appreciated, and loved by many and will be missed by all. When Mary Ann died in 2004, he lost a major part of who he was. He has again been united with the love of his life. Doing it the way Jim would want, the family is throwing a Celebration of Life party on 4th for family and his closest friends. For more information please contact acjessell@msn.com. Obituary: Helen Case Jessee passed away , 16 surrounded by her loving family. Born 14, 1919 in Purcellville, VA to Clarence and Virginia Case she was preceded in death by her husband Marshall, her parents and siblings Louise, Jane and Eddie. She was a past President and Honorary Lifetime Member of the Amaryllis Garden Club and a participant in the Mitchell Elementary, Wilson Jr. High and Plant High PTAs 1964-1976. Helen is survived by her sister, Ann Case Bowman (New York), children Jackie Christianson (Art), Blaine (Judy), Scott (Laura) of Wilksboro, NC, Thomas (Gail) of Lakeland, John (Karen) of Jacksonville, Elizabeth Byrd and Grandchildren Marshall Jessee (Diane), Jenifer Jessee, Meghan Byrd and many loving nieces and nephews.
