Obituary: Margaret Jones, 98, went to be with the Lord on 27, 2011. Margaret Elizabeth (Beckman) Jones was born 16, 1913 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Hulda (Anderson) and John Beckman. At the age of seven, the family moved to Selah, Washington. Margaret graduated from Selah High School, the first class to graduate from the current Lince School in Selah. Margaret went on to attend Business and then went to work for the of Yakima in the Treasurers office. During her 40 years of employment with the county, Margaret worked in three different court houses in Yakima. working her full 8 hour day at the court house, Margaret worked at CalPack and Sears each evening, doing their books. For many years, Margaret rode the trolley between Selah and Yakima to work and back. Margaret married Bradley Jones in Selah on 27, 1945. were blessed with the birth of twins, Beverly and Kenneth on 19, 1946. retiring in 1976, Margaret volunteered for Senior Chore Services and continued being a home maker. She was known for her skills in the kitchen, particularly her cookies and cinnamon rolls. Anytime there was a visitor to the Jones home, Margaret put on the coffee and got out a plate of cookies. She was a gracious hostess, and loved it when people just dropped in to see her. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bradley in 1986, her brother Elmer and her sister Ruth. She is survived by her children Bev Jones and Kenneth (Rosetta) Jones, "special" grandchildren Scott and Andy Franz, and her friend and caregiver, Emily Hassanin. A special thanks to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice and Dr. Labes for the tender care given to Margaret. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or Selah Covenant Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. , 1, 2011 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A Service will be 1:00 p.m. , 2nd at Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel with burial following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. |
