Obituary: ED S. JONES III 28, 1928 ~ 30, 2015 Ed S. Jones III, 87, passed away peacefully to his eternal home, Dec. 30, 2015. He was born in Colorado City, TX, Feb. 28, 1928 to Ed S. Jones Jr. and Mildred Jones. His family moved to La Porte, TX where he joined the Texas State Guard and graduated from La Porte High School in 1945. Ed attended Texas A&M and in 1946 enlisted in the Army Air Force. He obtained the rank of Staff Sargent in the Medical Squadron at Scott Field, AFB and was discharged in 1949. He attended Pasadena City and worked as a guide for hunters and fisherman in the High Sierras. college, Ed began working in sales for AIRCO which is now Linde. In 1955, he moved to Hollywood, CA and met Elaine Richter, who became his wife. In 1958, they were married for 57 wonderful years. had 2 sons and 1 daughter. In 1969, Ed was transferred from San Francisco to Vancouver. His family was the most important part of his life. enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and radio controlled planes. He taught the family to tie flies for fishing, and they took classes to properly handle a gun safely. When they left to go hunting Sandy would always tell him Please don shoot Bambi.. Ed became a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he taught water safety to preschooler, school age and adults. Ed earned the Coxswain Pin to run the 44s off the Pacific Coast. He was elected Flotilla 7-8 Commander from 1986-1987. In 1989-1990, he was Division Captain of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 7. He also patrolled the rivers and checked boats for safety. Ed was a Boy Scout Leader, attended Summer and Winter Camps, and served on Scout Boards for 12 years. He taught outdoor activities and helped in candy sales for Camp Fire Girls. His favorite hobby was golf. Ed learned to play golf in high school, he belonged to clubs in every city he lived. He won many trophies and was a member of Columbia Edgewater. He organized tournaments for AIRCO and was on the committee of the First Lutheran Cup in Vancouver. Ed tried to teach the family to golf but was unsuccessful. In later life he enjoyed practicing his swing at the golf range. The family became members of Grace Lutheran Church in the 70s. Ed was active in the church on several boards, co-treasurer, played bells, and served wherever he was needed until he was no longer able. Ed enjoyed life and all that God gave him. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Richard (Annie) Jones, Fern Prairie; daughter, Sandy (Tim) Archer, Atherton, CA; daughter-in-law , Bethany ODriscoll-Jones, Albany, NY; 2 grandchildren, Eli ODriscoll-Jones and Claire Archer; sister, Mary Ledbetter, Boise ID; several nieces and nephews and there families. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Ed Sid Jones IV. The service will be held , 17 at 4:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Vancouver, reception to follow. Obituary: Earnest Roy Jones, 90, passed away on 17, 2015 in Selah, WA. He was born on 28, 1925 in Big Flat, Arkansas to Steve Jasper and Senia Elizabeth (Fisk) Jones. He was raised and educated in Yellville, Arkansas. Earnest was very proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following his military service, he attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri for a time before coming to the Yakima Valley in 1949. To prepare him for the successful operation of his future barbershop, he attended and graduated from the Yakima Business . He worked & owned for over 60 years the barber shop at the Viking Village in Selah. Earnest enjoyed his many customers and the conversations they shared over the years. He was a member of the Central Assembly of God, a board member with the Calvary Mission and gave of his time to the Union Gospel Mission. Earnest will be remembered for his passion for doing Gods work and quiet, easy going manner. He is survived by adopted sons David Jones and Donald Jones. Earnest was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Senia Jones, first wife Norma, second wife Marie and siblings Eardie Jones, Alice Jones, Mabel Jones, Mae Lavada Jones, Claude Ray Jones, Steve Jasper Jones, William Frederick Jones, Billy Fred Jones, Johnny William Jones, Troy Genie Jones, Ellie Jones, Pleasant Alfred Jones, and Everette Berl Jones. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 6 pm, , 29, 2015 at Keith & Keith . services will be held at 1 pm, , 30th at Rainier Memorial . Interment will follow the service at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Obituary: YAKIMA - Dwayne Jones age 82 of Yakima, passed away 4, 2012. Dwayne was born on 5, 1929 in Lewellen, Nebraska to Hob and Elsie Jones. He grew up in Morrill, NE with his sisters Peggy and Yvonne and was a three sport standout at Morrill High School. graduation in 1948, Dwayne joined the Navy and proudly served our country during the Korean War, from 1948-1952. He was stationed in Guam and later served aboard the destroyer USS Hopewell. In 1953, while selling used cars with his brother-in-law in Boise, he met and later married the love of his life, Bonnie J. VanLandingham on 7, 1953. He also completed the car sale to her father! Lean years followed as the young couple struggled to make ends meet while Dwayne worked and attended Boise Junior and then Sacramento State. First son Jan was added to the mix in 1955. graduating from Sac State in 1956, Dwayne accepted a position with Safeco Insurance and the family settled in Pendleton, OR. Son, Daren, was born in 1960. Promoted and transferred in 1964, the family relocated to Yakima. Dwayne thrived in our valley, successful in his job as a marketing representative and surrounded by fishing and hunting. He was also an active member of the YMCA for many years and every you could find Dwayne and Jerry battling it out on the handball court for a week's worth of bragging rights. In 1975, he resigned from Safeco to start a career as an insurance broker with Bud Coppers-Emmett Beaulaurier-Steve Miller Insurance Agents & Brokers and became a partner 1979. a few years with an even longer name the agency became Argus Insurance. Retiring from Argus in 1992, Dwayne and Bonnie had the time to do the fishing, hunting and traveling that he loved. Many things were important in Dwayne's life including God, Country, and especially family. Bonnie was #1 with the grandkids a close 2nd. Many afternoons and evenings were spent watching Ryan, Reece, Lindsey and Kyle on the basketball court or fields of football, baseball or softball. We love you and miss you. Dwayne is survived by wife Bonnie J. (VanLandingham), son Jan (Jean) Jones, son Daren (Lori) Jones; grandchildren Ryan, Reece, Lindsey and Kyle, sister Yvonne (Del) Robertson and several nieces and nephews. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peggy (William) DeHass. A memorial service will be conducted 11, 2012 at 3:30 PM in the Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel.
