Obituary: Wanda (Joyce) Johnson On 30, 2014 at the age of 79 Wanda (Joyce) Johnson, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born 8, 1934 in Loveland, Colorado to Norris and Merle (Phipps) Snyder. Joyce was the youngest of 6 children, she moved with her family to Yakima in 1944. Joyce made friends very easily and two of her first were very close throughout her life. Joyce met Dale on Labor Day 1948 at the Moxee Hop Festival; Dale told her that if she was a little older he would marry her. Mom turned 15 in and they were married on May 14, 1949. started a family when the first of 7 children was born in of 1950. As the family grew they decided to start a business. Together they started Johnson and Sons Masonry in 1957. Joyce worked as the bookkeeper for the business; together they taught their children the importance of hard work and the value of family. Joyce started bowling in 1960 and fell in love with the game. She went to work for the Skookum Bowling Alley as an assistant manager and organized many different leagues. Our house was full of bowling trophies including many first place, High Score, High Average. She loved camping, going to the beach, but most of all she loved God and her family. It was her dedication to God that made her such a great wife, mother, and friend to those who knew and loved her. Joyce listed her occupation as a homemaker let's see what that means: While raising a family Joyce helped start a family business, worked as an assistant manager for Skookum Bowling Alley, taught her family about God, instilled a love for family in all of her children. Later she and Dale had a stove business at Ward Plaza. When her sons started a business she helped them in their office. Yes she was a homemaker; she helped make many loving homes where God and Family are most important. We are very sad to lose our mother and friend, but her goal in life was to end up at the feet of Jesus and hearing: "Well done my good and faithful servant". Joyce is survived by her six sons Jack Johnson, James (Lois) Johnson, John (Carlene) Johnson, Joseph (LaRae) Johnson, Jason (Marlene) Johnson, Jeff (Kathy) Johnson and her daughter Joyce Johnson; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sisters Marion, Leona, Katherine, Eleanor, her brother Jack and her daughter in-law Donna Johnson. Joyce and Dale were married for nearly 58 years until his death in of 2007. The family would like to thank the staff at Cornerstone Medical especially her doctor, Dr. Gabriel Lascar, and his nurses Jennifer and Karen. Also we would like to thank Dr. Tony Ha from North Star Lodge. The following letter by her son Jeff expresses the love of life, family and God she had in her heart. A Mothers Love. How do you write a life of someone who gave so much love to each one of their kids and husband and to friends she knew and to the friends she was going to know? It's a warm blanket on a cold night. It's a snowy day home from school with the perfect snow to build a snowman then when you're a" done hot cocoa is waiting. It's knowing if you had a rough day at school, when you get home it would be better. She could always make anyone feel better, even if she could not fix it she still made whatever it was better. Our mother's love made a" of us feel like we were the favorite child and in a house with seven kids that is an amazing feat. Even though we are a" adults with children of our own we still tell one another that WE are the favorite. Our mother's love could give you courage to do the things you want to do and if you think you could, she would say it will be okay just give it a try, if you make it or not. A mother's love was there to support you either way. Our mother's love helped us, it was our backbone, our courage to take the next step in life. Even as the years went on by and we started families of our own. Our mother's love keeps us together as a family, even though we have grown and each of us is different from the next, her love still brings us back to each other. Our mother's love made it possible to keep going, when the doctors tell you that your own child is not going to be perfect, she simply said "Every child no matter what is PERFECT." Our mother's love made good time even better, with her love she taught us to live life to the fullest and to think of others before ourselves. Our mother's love was unconditional and overflowing throughout our childhoods even until her last day, we always knew we were loved. Her words to us were "no matter what you have, you ALWAYS have MY Love and the love of this FAMILY." Our mother's love continued to grow as our family did; we married and then had kids of our own, her love grew more and as our kids had families her love continued to expand over everyone. Our mother's love was and still is continued... |
