Obituary: Our beloved Mother Helen Delores (Thormahlen) Jacobsen passed peacefully into Heaven on 16, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born on 2, 1932 to Frank and Louise Thormahlen in Moxee, WA. She spent her early years there and in Ahtanum before moving to Alpha, WA at the age of 12. It was there that she first met the love of her life our Dad Jacob. were married in of 1948 in Chehalis, WA. continued to live in the area when their oldest son Dennis was born and 2 1/2 years later their second son Frank was born. A few years after moving to the Goldendale, WA area their daughter Sandy was born. Mom was thoroughly committed to her family, always making sure our needs were met with enormous patience and most of all love. She continued this commitment for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Among her many talents Mom had a love of music and singing. She was an expert seamstress and could crochet anything having made many beautiful gifts for her family. retirement Mom and Dad spent many pleasurable winters traveling in their motor home to Arizona and around the south. Besides just being home, their summers were spent traveling the north part of the U.S. It was a most enjoyable time for both of them. Mom was a very strong woman and fought her disease courageously and graciously without complaint. We will miss her so very much. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff of North Star Lodge, Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Yakima for their care and comfort. Helen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jacob (Ed) Jacobsen of Yakima, WA; sons, Dennis (Joella) of Vancouver, WA, Frank (Christine) of Buckley, WA and daughter, Sandy (Dan) Schneider of Yakima, WA; 6 grandchildren, Kyra, Kyle (Kim) Jacobsen of Vancouver, WA, Kristy, Jeff Jacobsen of Buckley, WA, Koreena Sedge, Kasey Schneider of Yakima, WA; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Louie of Chehalis, WA; sisters, Lilly Wilson of Yakima, WA and Evelyn Faas of Roseburg, OR, and sister-in-law, Viola (Gary) Andrews of Chehalis, WA. She is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Louise Thormahlen; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., , 21, 2012 at West Hills Memorial Park. Obituary: GLORIA BABE JACOBSEN 18, 1932 ~ 12, 2016 a long battle with Alzheimers, Gloria Jacobsen passed away on Jan. 12, 2016. Gloria was 83, but she loved to joke that she was only 21. Those who knew her dearest, knew her as Babe. Babe was born in Rockford, IL, Sept. 18, 1932, to Dewey and Elva Dolly McEllrath. Her parents, five children and their dog, all moved to Vancouver, WA in 1943. Babe worked at the Marina in Camas, WA and also at Summit Mirror and Glass company before retiring in 1999. She was a member of Moose Lodge for many years, attending Moose dances and the Moose races. Her favorite hobbies were dancing, camping with her family, walking the mall, and interior designing. Babe refinished furniture way before it became popular. She loved her long visits with her sister-in-law, Rose, cracking jokes and laughing. She was an avid reader who loved Danielle Steele novels. Babe also loved listening to her favorite performers, Dean Martin and John Denver, Snicker bars, and her beloved red Jeeps! Babe leaves behind four children, Gary Christensen, Laura Wenrick, Debbie (Eric) Amundson and Carrie Kennedy; six grandchildren, Stacey Reid, Jennifer Fischer, Katie Wenrick, Ashley Kennedy, Sara Schleske and Quinn Kennedy; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Sydnee, Chase, Alana, Anela and Boston; and her brother, Harry (Nancy) McEllrath. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Katie Wenrick, for her loving care the last eight years. Her service will be held Mon., Jan. 18, 2016 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life get-together will be held afterwards at Tapped Brew House, 2005 SE 192nd Ave., Vancouver, WA. The family asks that in lieu of contributing to the service, to donate to the Alzheimers Foundation of America Organization http://www.alzfdn.org in Glorias name.
