Obituary: To sum up ones life in a newspaper is hard to do, but it's even harder when that somebody was DJ.
DJ worked for UP&L for 40 years and was an outstanding lineman. He was a workaholic whose job gave him the ability to help and show just how much he cared for people as individuals. His dedicated canyon work earned him a lot of friendships and created strong bonds. always knew they could count on DJ to fix their power at any time. He took the time to travel to schools to teach children about electricity and show off his bucket truck. The kids loved him and sent him several hundred letters to show their appreciation.
DJ was an avid golfer, concert goer, and a dedicated Chicago Bears fan. Rain or shine you could find him on a golf course somewhere playing alongside his buddies. Him and his wife hardly ever missed a concert out in Wendover either. made several great memories and he even was mistaken for a band member a few times because of his long platinum hair. His love for football started to grow from back when he was the star player in high school. His passion for the game could be seen every as the family gathered to watch the Bears play, jerseys and all.
DJ was an amazing and loving husband, dad, brother, son and grandfather. Family and friends were everything to him and he made it well known. He was loved by his family and was an excellent role model for those around him. His love for life was infectious. He would always say the best medicine is laughter. DJ taught that kindness could go a long way and change lives, and he did just that. He changed the lives of so many and gave everlasting friendships to those who needed them the most. He also taught that hard work is the way to make it in life and make a name for yourself. People like DJ are hard to find in this world. His family and friends were lucky enough to have the opportunity to know such an incredible man. Even though DJ is gone his legacy for humanity will live on through all the lives he has touched.
He survived by his wife, Paula; son, Jeremy; daughter, Amber; son in law, Justin; 6 amazing grandchildren, Jordyn, Jane, Eme, Xandre, Gracie, and Ayden; sister, Ruth; and 2 brothers, Glenn and Russell.
Viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 s. Highland Dr. SLC, UT) on from 6-8 p.m. Graveside service will be held at the same location afternoon at 2 p.m.

Obituary: Curtis Thayne Johnson 24, 1949 – 30, 2013 Curtis Thayne Johnson, 63, peacefully passed away at home on 30, 2013 from multiple complications secondary to liver failure while waiting for an organ transplant. Curtis was born on 24, 1949. He was the first born of five to Thayne and Iris Johnson. During his childhood the family resided in Southern California where he is remembered as being an adventurous and active child who craved the outdoors. Thayne and Iris loved taking the children on frequent outings in the family trailer. Curtis delighted in being airborne, side by side with his father in the cockpit. He always longed to be a pilot, but the need for vision correction thwarted him from achieving this dream. Curtis and his dad enjoyed the scenic byways everywhere they traveled. As a father, he never missed the dirt road less traveled that took us into the unknown, where some of the best memories were made. The family relocated to Utah in the early sixtys where Curtis found the mountains irresistible. He summited his first mountain (Mt. Whitney) as a young teenager and later volunteered on the Mountain Rescue team as part of the BYU Alpine Club. Curtis found great joy tinkering with electronics and achieved his amateur license as a Ham radio operator. He is remembered for attempting to make his own hang glider, loving anything to do with water, and for his amazing marksmanship. Curtis graduated from BY-High and obtained his Bachelors in Computer Science from Brigham Young University. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for 2 years before his honorable discharge at the rank of SP5. His polished typing and english skills influenced the General to keep Curtis around, and as a result he was spared from being deployed overseas. Curtis was sealed for time and all eternity to his high school sweet heart, Barbara Jean Babb, in 1970 in the SLC temple. raised their four children in Pepperell, Ma. until 1985 when they returned to Provo, Utah. Curtis was recruited after graduation by Digital Equipment Corporation and then later for Wang Laboratories and Novell. His sense of adventure then led him on an entrepreneurial journey with the startup company DISX. He was truly passionate about his final job as the manager of the American Fork LDS Employment where he enthusiastically coached a team of missionaries to help others find gainful employment. Curtis was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was fondly nicknamed sound guy, Mr. Fix-it, Papa Curt or BJ by his ward family and friends. . He eagerly accepted callings throughout his life, but his time spent serving the youth was always his favorite. He treasured his time spent with the Young Women at Camp Shalom and trekking with the boy scouts in the high Uintas. Curtis could be called by anyone, anytime, anywhere and he would be there to get the job done. We will never forget the countless hours he spent reading in his big Papa Curt chair and his never ending quest for knowledge. He believed a spread sheet analysis should fix ANY problem. He had a deep love for music and enjoyed listening to his children and grandchildren practice and perform. We knew when the ward choir was scheduled to sing, because he would be giddy for days beforehand. We will miss the popcorn that he popped in his whirly pop nearly every day, the roar of the lawn mower at the start of every family gathering and the anticipation of snowfall as an excuse to fire up the 4-wheelers and attach the plow. He was our resident astrologist, librarian, weather man, swim coach, jump or dive caller, water polo referee, dive judge, music critic and the best Santas helper ever! Curtis is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara; his four children Michael (Wendy), Rebecca (David) Mullen, Matthew (Kristin), Megan (Bryan) Hepworth; his siblings Darla Rogers, Terri Lee (Jon) Burgener, Kevin (Elizabeth) and Brian. He will be greatly missed by his 13 grandchildren; McKenzie, Chase, KC, Cassidy, Alexis, Kiersten, Madilynn, David, Matisyn, Sammy, Emilyn, Abigail and Lucas. There are countless nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted children and grandchildren and his best friend and ball of fluff, Kizzy that will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Harvey Thayne Johnson and Iris Helen Schlerf. services will be held , May 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Provo Sharon East Stake , 2400 N. 1060 E. in Provo. Friends may visit with the family evening from 6-8 pm at Walker Sanderson , 646 E. 800 N. in Orem and at the church morning from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Provo, Utah. In memory of our husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend, we encourage everyone to give the gift of life and become an organ donor. THE NEED IS REAL Today 117,840 people are waiting for an organ 18 people will die each day waiting for an organ 1 organ donor can save up to 8 lives

Obituary: Mama Connie
On the evening of 8th our beloved (little fire cracker) mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), sister, and aunt left this world peacefully, at her home, with her family at her bedside. Connie endured many months of hospitalizations and surgeries due to complications associated with back surgery. Through it all she kept her chin held high and always had a smile on her face, even in her weakest moments. Connie was born on 23, 1938 to Clark and Bernice Robinson in Hawthorne, Nevada. She graduated from Mineral High School and married her sweetheart William (Buzz) Johnson on 14, 1956 in Fallon, Nevada. Connie and Buzz later moved to the Salt Lake valley where they raised their family of six children. Connie was very active in the LDS Church and took on many callings. She worked selflessly and diligently at the conference center and enjoyed the many people she had the opportunity to interact with as she conducted tours. Connie had a magnetic personality and those who met her developed an instant love. Connie was very active and enjoyed golfing on a regular basis as she prepared for the annual Buzz Johnson Memorial golf tournament. Cards and horseshoes were also something she could not resist. If there was a game she was all for it, but never without money as a little enticement. Gambling was another one of her great skills!
She is survived by her six children; Eddie (Sandy) Johnson, Robbie (Debi) Johnson, Deanna (Craig) Fullmer, Cyndi (Ed) Feller, Traci (Mick) Buonocore, and Lonnie (Kenna) Johnson; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister Marian Potter; several brother and sister in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Eddie Robinson. The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the great doctors and nurses at Intermountain Medical and also Hospice services.
