Obituary: Colonel Burton Powell Jones born in Eastland, TX 28, 1923 to the late Francis Tresais Jones and Isabel Burton Jones, passed away 6, 2011 surrounded by his family. Colonel Jones was a career military man, who served in three campaigns earning, 3 purple hearts. He loved his dogs, and after retirement, he became the family and neighborhood dog sitter. He was also an avid sports fan. His favorite team was the Texas Longhorns. He was predeceased by his first wife Betty, his sister Patricia Ann Schaper, and his brother Frank T. Jones. Colonel Jones is survived by his wife Mary C. Jones, his daughter Ann Reznicek (Glen), step-son Charles Coleman DDS (Linda) and step-son Michael Coleman (Dr.Anne). He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. For the past year, he made his home at Emeritus at Creekside Memory . Obituary: Burrell Elbert Jones, 89, of Victoria, Texas, died peacefully in his home 11, 2014, with his family by his side. Burrell Jones is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Billie Jean Jones. He is also survived by three children, Burrell C. Jones (Cal) and his wife Loretta, James L. Jones (Jim) and his wife Karen, and Jeffrey L. Jones (Jeff) and his wife Chris, along with four grandchildren, Brett Jones and Nathan Palmer, Clint Jones and wife Stacy, Stephen Jones and Cullen Jones. Burrell Jones is also survived by four great grandchildren, Skylar Jones (Victoria, Tx), and Cole, Kylee, and Cohen Jones (Burkburnett, Tx). He was preceded in death by Burrell Simpson Jones (father), Elaine Jones (mother), and sisters Eileen Stark ( Station, Tx) and Bettye Ann Smith (Rio Hondo, Tx). Burrell Jones was born 1, 1924, in Victoria, Texas. He graduated from Patti Welder High School in 1941, and attended Texas A&M University as an Aeronautical Engineer major in 1942. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps cadet program on 4, 1942. He was classified as a navigator and graduated 4, 1943, and was made an instructor at the age of 19. instructing only one class, the Corps asked for a celestial navigator, and Burrell was assigned a personal instructor. Upon graduation, he received a commission as 2nd Lieutenant, and learned he was to be navigator for General George H. Brett who was commander of the Philippines before General MacArthur took over. For over-water experience, Burrell was attached to a bomb squadron stationed in the Galapagos Islands before joining General Brett as navigator of a B-17 named "The Swoose". The plane is now the only B-17 in the Smithsonian. During his remaining time as navigator for General Brett, Burrell flew to every country in South America (except Paraquay and Uruguay), flying ambassadors and dignitaries throughout the country helping to improve relations with South America. Burrell met Iron Man Dictator, Juan Peron of Argentina, President Samosa of Nicaragua, and was honored by the Bolivian Government when the crew of the Swoose was included in "The Royal Order of the Condor of the Andes." life in the Army Air Corps, Burrell's Dad asked him not to go back to Texas A&M, and join him with half interest in the Victoria Livestock Auction. He accepted the offer and began searching for a place to rebuild the business. He had purchased 110.1 acres of land at a bargain. He decided to sell, and the profit was used to build a new auction facility on the Old Goliad Road. The 110 acres he sold was later developed as Castle Hills Subdivision. Since this was considered prime property, Jones was often asked if he was disappointed having sold the property when he did. He never regretted accepting his Dad's offer, or selling the property, not once! In 1960, Burrell traded an interest in the Victoria Livestock Commission for an interest in the Cuero Livestock Sale. He sold out and retired in 1996. On 15, 1946, Burrell married Billie Jean Calhoun and remained a loving and devoted husband for 68 years. Burrell and Billie Jean loved cruises, horse races, and family. He was a dedicated Christian and lived out a Christ-like faith for all to witness. He had an incredible gift of giving to his family, his friends, his church, and many charitable organizations. He served as both a deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church, and most recently was a member of Lifepointe Fellowship Church. Burrell had sparkling blue eyes and a great smile, as well as a life-long love affair with golf, corn on the cob, lobster, and watermelon. A visitation will be held on , 15, 2014, from 12:30 to 2 pm at Rosewood immediately followed by the funeral service with Rev. Les Cole officiating. Interment will take place at Memory Gardens with flag folding honors under the auspices of Victoria Veteran's Council. The Jones Family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Josie Garza (dearest friend), Dina Martinez, Minga Garcia, and Crown Hospices nurses and staff. Pallbearers will be Brett Jones, Clint Jones, Cole Jones, Stephen Jones, Cullen Jones, and Lamar Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Pat Windom, Roland Ball, Craig Smith, Icky Maurer, Nathan Palmer, Shelly Holsey, Mike Rippamonti and great grandchildren. Obituary: Burl Jones, age 91, went to be with the Lord on 22, 2009. He was born 20, 1918, in Huntington, Texas, to the late Martin Luther and Ida Hawkins Jones. Burl attended Texas A&M University until, due to The Depression, he returned home to help work the family farm. Burl was a man who believed in combining hard work with integrity. He was known among family and friends as a man of great faith and was a member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church. Burl founded his own business where his customers loved and respected him. He was also known for his Stetson and his love for his Palomino Stallion. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Frances Elizabeth Jones; son, Timothy Jones; 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Obituary: Buck (Roy Lee) Jones died peacefully 16 at the age of 77 in Burnet after a brief but difficult illness. He was surrounded by his loving family in death as he had been in life. Buck was born in Lampasas, the second son of Berniece Vann Jones and Raymond M. Jones, who both predeceased him. The family moved to Burnet when Buck was 9 years old. Except for brief stints for college and Texas National Guard service, Buck was rarely away from Burnet . He always said the best thing about leaving home was coming home. Buck spent his formative years working with his brothers on the family ranch at Lake Buchanan. Although the work was hard and the screw worms were fierce, Buck never lost his love of ranching and all that goes with it. graduating Burnet High School in 1956, Buck ranched independently in Burnet and surrounding Counties until shortly before his death. Words that folks use to describe Buck included a real character, an old-fashioned gentleman, a great story-teller, a private man, a complex man and he first to offer help when it is needed. Buck was all that and more to those who knew him. Bucks trips to Fredericksburg, Ruidoso and Retama Park to the horse races with his unning buddies provided him with some of his best adventures and stories. He was fond of saying I know I may have already told you this story but I want to hear it again myself! Buck is survived by his three siblings: Randall (LaDema) Jones of Burnet, Rex (Ann) Jones of Bronte and Judy Jones Bays of San Antonio. He is also survived by two nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces and a great-nephew. Also surviving Buck is a host of friends that loved him and will miss him. Predeceasing Buck in addition to his parents was a beloved nephew. Bucks family especially thanks the staff members of the Oaks , Seton Highland Lakes Hospice and Texas Private CNA Services for their loving care of Buck in his final days. Obituary: Bruce W. Jones Doc J 67 Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. , 24, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastors Scott Raines and Steve Stephens officiating. The family will have a private graveside service following the memorial, conducted by Griggs Schooler Gordon Directors Bruce was born 9, 1947 to Jack Doyle and Martha Jane Jones in Lubbock. He was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1964. Bruce enlisted in the US Navy and served in Vietnam. Later, he served as a Corpsman with the US Marines, Amarillo Reserves. Bruce received the Distinguished Service Cross for his service in Desert Storm. In 1969, he met his partner in life, Susan Heiser. The couple wed in 1972 and made their home in Amarillo. He was a Chemist at Northwest Texas Hospital for 20 years, then worked at The Pavilion, retiring in 2014. Bruce loved people and never met a stranger. He lived for his family and grandchildren. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Jack D. Jones and a sister, Kathi Jones Boyd. Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan Jones; a son, Brian W. Jones and wife Sunnye of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Tricia and Julie Jones both of Amarillo; his mother, Jane Jones; a brother, David S. Jones of Lubbock; and 5 grandchildren, Jack D. Jones II, Benjamin Jones, Sarah Jones, Jennifer Jones and Esther Jones, all of Amarillo.
