Obituary: Dovie Dorthea Alice Smith Joles passed away on 25, 2015. She was born on 13, 1959 to parents James and Ann I. Slendor Joles in Waco, Texas. Dovie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend that will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. Obituary: ****To better celebrate Femis life, at the familys request, please wear colorful, cheerful clothing.**** Olufemi Femi Jokanola was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on 13, 1973. Femi passed gracefully away at home on the morning of 5, 2014, after losing a 2 year battle with colon cancer. His mother, Sarah and father, Jacob, are visiting from Nigeria and arrived weeks earlier to spend time with their son. Femi is one of 6 children all residing in Nigeria with the exception of a brother here in Houston. Femi was wise far beyond his years. In 1999, he received his bachelor degree of Science with honors in Geology at Obafemi Awalowo University. From Nigeria, he went on to study at University of Newcastle in the UK accomplishing his Masters of Science in Petroleum Geochemistry with distinction. As a continuation of his education, he studied at the University of Calgary in Canada, where he obtained his Ph.D in Geology with a specialization in Petroleum Geoscience. Following his Ph.D, he was offered a Geologist position with ConocoPhillips and continued to passionately work until this . His love of Geology has helped him obtain 2 patents (Predicting and Forecasting H2S Production in Unconventional Source Rock Plays and Hydro Carbon Production Allocation Methods and Systems). His friends at ConocoPhillips described Femi as an inspirational, wonderful, kind, brilliant, humble, positive great man who will be greatly missed." Femis hobbies included playing soccer and watching soccer and politics on TV. In addition to his love of Geology, hes greatest love was for his wife, Andrea and their two daughters, Hannah (age 2 yrs. 9 mths.) and Faith (age 9 mths.). Although they are grieving the loss of such an incredible man, they find comfort in their faith and memories of the love of a man who touched everyone who knew him in a special way. Andrea and her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the medical professionals who cared for Femi during his illness, friends who have sent food, watched the girls and have helped ease the pain of Femis passing. Obituary: Gussie L. Joines Gussie passed into heaven, peacefully in her sleep, on 26, 2015, at the age of 101. Born in Sparta, North Carolina, on May 1, 1913, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tam Joines, her son, James Joines, and her grandson, Tam Wasson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Patricia Wasson of Dallas, TX, daughter in law, Ann Joines of Annapolis, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Tam and Gussie moved to Annapolis in 1935, and were active in the business community for many years, operating Tam Joines Tire Service in Parole. Gussie was a talented seamstress, and quilter, winning a blue ribbon at the MD State Fair. She loved spending time on their boat, fishing in the bay, and entertaining guests with a delicious home cooked meal with a card game afterwards. She also loved traveling. She walked the Great Wall in China, stood on top of the Matterhorn in Europe, strolled thru the Acropolis in Greece, and walked with the Masai Warriors in Africa, while on safari. Above all, Gussie was devoted to her family, and we love her and will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held at the John M. Taylor , Inc. 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21401 on , 5th from 6pm to 8pm., with a funeral service on 6th at 11am in the Taylor Chapel. Burial Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. |
