Obituary: Ona G. (Jean) Joiner, age 91, died on 18, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. Jean is survived by her Daughter, Connie Carsten, of San Antonio, Texas, her Son, Thomas Joiner, of Pipe Creek, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Joiner, of San Antonio, Texas. Jean was born on 29, 1925 in Foss, Oklahoma, to parents Thomas Sullivan and Willa Frances Greyhorse.. Jean was a wonderful woman and loving Mother and Grandmother. She was blessed to have had 4 grandchildren, Kyle Carsten, Kim Weis, Sara Lasiter and Mathew Joiner and 7 great grandchildren, Will Carsten, Mia Carsten, Lincoln Weis, Kat Weis, Austin Byron, Patrick Lasiter and Savanah Lasiter. In her early childhood Jeans grandparents were deaf mutes their whole life. In her adolescent years she moved to Amarillo, Texas. In her early adulthood he met the love of her life Jack at 17 years of age and they married when she was 18 years old. Her proudest moments were having her babies. Her favorite song was The Old Rugged Cross and her favorite colors were Blue and Pink. Her many hobbies included ceramics, making albums for weddings and even as a bingo number caller for a senior group. Some other things to remember about Jean was that she drove her first car at 11 years old, going to Hawaii, having the most wonderful husband for 50 years and great memories on a ranch managed by her parents for 20 years. A memorial service and reception are scheduled for , 27, 2017 at Sunset North . All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeans life. |

She married Robert J. Joiner on 9, 1957, in Monahans, TX. She was a homemaker. She retired after working at the airport as a security official. She was an avid bowler, enjoying crocheting and fishing, and was an experienced motorcycle rider. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert J. Joiner, two brothers Theral and Paul Squyres, and sister Alma Montgomery, a granddaughter Sara Joiner, and great-grandson Caleb Wester. She was survived by: Her sons, Troy Joiner and wife LaNita of Odessa, and Russell Joiner and wife Debbie of Boyd, TX, her daughter, Cindy Tipton of Abilene, TX, a brother, Don Squyres of Arkansas, and sister, Irene Cooper of Midland, TX, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
