Obituary: William Clayton Johnson died 9,2015, in Harker Heights, Texas after a brief illness. He was 88 years old. Clayton is survived by his three children, Linda Wells (Jack), Cathey Liles (Michael) of Harker Heights, and Bill Johnson (Cynthia) ofMt. Juliet, Tennessee. Seven grandsons, Micah Wells (Tara) and Josh Wells (Melissa) of Nolanville, Will Liles (Christy) of Killeen, Lee Liles (DD) of Dime Box, John Liles (Teri) of FT. Worth, Chris Johnson and Hollis Johnson of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and thirteen great-grandchildren, survive him. His wife, Jo, his parents, a brother, and a sister preceded Clayton in death. A brother, Dale Johnson, of Alabama, survives him. Clayton was born 5, 1927 in Mississippi to Nathan and Della Mae Johnson. He and his family moved to Alabama when he was young, and he lived there until joining the Army in 1945. He married Jo Agnew in Belton, Texas on 13, 1948. Clayton and Jo were married 53 years until her death in 2002. Clayton was a route salesman for Mrs. Baird's Bread for 28 years until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Visitation is scheduled for , 12, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Crawford Bowers in Killeen. A graveside service will be held , 13, at 10:00 AM at the Killeen City with burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care given to Dad during his illness. We especially want to thank Andra and Millie for their kindness to us all. |

William was a gift by the Lord to his father, William Edgar Johnson Sr., and mother, Frances Wood Johnson. Bill was born 20, 1925 in Houston, Texas to Willie Roy Johnson and Jewell May Taylor Johnson. Bill served in the Army from 1945 to 1946 WWII. Bill was a Mail Carrier for 32 years in Austin. retirement he worked various part time jobs and did a lot of traveling with the Rolling Wheels Travel Club. He was preceded in death by parents, brother Clyde Johnson and sister-in-law Virginia Hare Johnson, brother-in-law Roger Taylor and sister-in-law Ann 'Nancy' Marie Doyle Johnson. Obituary: Bill was born in Dallas,Texas, on 3, 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, working on the staff of Admiral Nimitz in Hawaii. With the exception of those years, he lived his entire life at his East Dallas home. His father, r Lee Johnson, was in the produce business in Dallas, and his grandfather, J.P. Dowell, owned a hardware store in McKinney. Bill was an SMU graduate and a world traveler whose favorite cities were Barcelona and Vancouver. He had a collection of over 9000 motion pictures, and one of his great joys was his movie club, which met on nights at his house. He was a devoted member of the Downtown YMCA, and he exercised there four hours a day until he could barely walk. His superb physical condition enabled him to survive several bouts with pneumonia, although he finally succumbed to Parkinson's Disease on 23, 2015. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, r Dowell Johnson. He is survived by his nephews, r Dowell Johnson, Jr. and David Johnson, David's wife Debbie, and by his great-nephews, David Benjamin Johnson and Samuel Dowell Johnson as well as his faithful friends Steve Rossiter and Carl Perkins. He is also survived by his remarkable caregivers Rose Brown, Susan Lindsie Harris and Bobbie Redmon as well as by members of the staff at Signature Pointe, including, especially, Poonam Mehta. Bill Johnson was a strong, independent spirit whose delight in life was an inspiration to his friends and family. He was a person of character and raw courage. He will be missed by many and is now part of the eternal life of God. The family would ask that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the YMCA of Dallas. |

Obituary: William S. L. Johnson, Jr. William (Bill) Sidney Leonard Johnson, Jr. was called to his heavenly home on , May 4, 2011 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Bill was born 21, 1932 to William S. L. Johnson, Sr. and Bessie David Johnson at Wein, Texas. He married Julia Marie Lightner on 21, 1951 in Taylor, Texas at St. Marys Catholic Church. Shortly after graduating from Taylor High School in May of 1950, he was named the Manager of a Big Bear Grocery Store, later he became an outstanding salesman for John H. Swisher & Son selling King Edward Cigars across 14 states. Bill was proud of graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Generating Growth Innovatively and completing the Executive Management Marketing and Merchandising Course at Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. He was the recipient of many awards: 1982 King Edward Sales Person of the Year; Texas Candy Salesperson of the Year with Atlas Brown; and 1992 Southwest Tobacco Salesman of the Year from General Cigar. He was a member of the Young Executives of the National Association of Tobacco Distributors. When he retired he was presented with the prestigious Eagle Award for outstanding service to the tobacco industry. Next to his wife and family, Bills second love was the Knights of Columbus. He was a proud charter member of Council 5967 (formed forty years ago this month) and also Assembly 2244. He served as Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, and District Deputy, organized a new Council and was a Chapter President. He worked the K of C Softball Tournament for 20 years and was Council Activities Chairman for over 12 years. The walls of his office are covered with plaques that show his participation in and awards from the Knights of Columbus. Bill is survived by his wife of over 60 years, a son William (Bill) S.L. Johnson, III, daughter Teresa L. Klepac and husband William, daughter Joanne J. Hurley and husband Randal, grandsons: Allan Klepac, Justin Johnson and wife Rachel, Ethan Johnson and wife Laura, Matthew Klepac and granddaughter Rachel M. Hurley, great grandson Lucas Johnson and great granddaughter Isabella Johnson, sister Jackie Taylor, 3 nephews, 4 nieces and a growing number of great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by many cousins and friends. And of course, he is loved and will be missed by his faithful and loyal dog, Buddy. Bill and Julia moved to Austin in 1952 and never left. The two enjoyed life to its fullest. Some of Bills favorite activities were planning K.C. activities, hunting, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, boating, tending his cows and being with friends. He was an amazing man: never met a stranger; was always there to lend a hand; had a can do spirit and as a salesman, He could sell ice to an Eskimo. We will all miss him.
