Obituary: James Hendrix Jimmy Jones, 84, retired insurance underwriter and farmer, passed away , 20, 2015 at his residence in Columbia. services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating and Tim Pagliara providing the eulogy. The family will visit with friends prior to the service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. An additional service will be conducted in East Tennessee at the Robert Ledford in Unicoi, Tennessee , 23rd at 7:00 p.m. The family will visit with friends from 5:30 p.m. to service time. Graveside services and interment will be in Jones in Unicoi, Tennessee, at 10:00 a.m. with military honors provided by the Kingsport Chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. Born 8, 1931 in Unicoi, Tennessee, he was the eldest of seven children of the late James Richard Jones and Bessie Loraine Bell Jones. He graduated from Unicoi High School in Erwin, Tennessee and attended East Tennessee State in Johnson City where he studied pre-agriculture. From there he transferred to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, earning a B.S. degree in Agriculture 18, 1953. Mr. Jones moved to Middle Tennessee in 1954 and served in the U. S. Army. On 26, 1955, he married the former Anna Belle Sudberry who preceded him in death 29, 1966. On 2, 1968, he married Eleise Paysinger Morrow who died 18, 1989. On 23, 1999, he married Ramona Vestal Wall. Mrs. Jones recently passed away on 27, 2015. Mr. Jones career began as an Agriculture teacher in Rockvale, Tennessee. Later he was an Insurance Underwriter and regional Sales Manager for Kemper Insurance , as well as being a farmer prior to retirement. He enjoyed traveling and was proud to say that he had visited all 50 of the United States, six continents, and over 30 countries. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was a member of West End Baptist Church and his civic activities included membership in the Lions Club and Elks Club. Survivors include his siblings, Dorothy Wiggand of Unicoi, Peggy (Lendell) Jeffers of Jonesboro; Carl (Sue) Jones of Unicoi; Ann (Anderson) Pate of Erwin; George Jones of Spring Hill; Paul Buddy (Shirley) Jones of Unicoi; step-daughters, Jeanna (Eddie) Brooks and Lisa (Randy) Stevens of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Kathy, Paulette, Kay, Alice, and all of those who cared for Jimmy during his failing health. Your kindness and devotion to are most gratefully appreciated. |

Obituary: James Barker Jim Jones, loving husband, father and grandfather, 86, of Hixson, passed away on , 21, 2011. Born in Pennsylvania, Jim spent decades in education: he bought his own South Carolina business college in 1952, he taught at Mckenzie until 1992, and spent eleven years in the Hamilton School System. Jim taught at Soddy-Daisy High School, Red Bank High School, Central High School, as well as Sequoyah High School. When Jim graduated high school in 1943, he went into the Army Air Force and was a first pilot on the B-17 and a co-pilot on the B-29 during World War II. the war, he attended the Univeristy of Ilinois and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business. Jims passion, in addition to teaching, was Tennis. He was a member of Manker Patten Tennis Club having been in many tournaments and winner of many championships. He was one of the first teaching pros at the Racquet Club and taught at Valleybrook for 20 years, as well as ran the Valleybrook Tennis Association. Jim was known to everyone for his love of life and enthusiasm. He brought smiles to all he met. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. F.B. and Thelma Barr Jones and a daughter, Lisa Rae Jones-Bass. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Jaime and Mark Thomas and two grandsons, Matthew Barker and Aaron Joseph Thomas. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. , 25 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga , followed by a Celebration of Jims Life at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton Humane Educational Society, 212 N.
