Obituary: Dennis Leroy Jones passed away on 21st, 2017, at his home in Wood Village, Oregon. He was born on 28th, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to his parents: Herman Harold and Beverly Jean (Fox) Jones. He attended High School in Newberg. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army on 31st, 1966. He served until his honorable discharge on 14th, 1969. For his service, received the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman M-14 medal. Dennis grew up listening to a variety of music. He had a passion for muscle cars, especially Plymouth Road Runners. He also enjoyed rebuilding old cars and boating at Detroit Lake with his family. He was a member of the Multnomah Hot Rod Association, and the Chrysler RT Club. Dennis worked for Union Pacific Railroad from 1970 until his retirement in 1995. He worked as a Brakeman, an Assistant Terminal Superintendent, and a Yard Master. Dennis met the love of his life, Shari, at his best friends wedding. were married on May 8th, 1970, and they were married for 44 years until her passing on May 22nd, 2014. Dennis and Shari enjoyed spending time with their loved ones, and they both had a passion for antiquing. Together, they owned several local antique shops. Dennis will be remembered for his love of cars, and for being a kind, loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family and friends described him as a man who had a great sense of humor and quick wit, and was a jokester. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Herman Harold Jones; and his siblings, Larry Jones, Diane Jones, and Leonard Jones. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Jones; his children, Teresa, Alicia, and Darin; daughter in law, Stephanie, and son in law, Matthew; and his grandchildren, Austin, Jazzmin, Sabrina, Nicole, Tiffany, Brandon, Shyanne, Kaylee, and Taiya; and six great grandchildren. A Committal Service with military honors will take place on , 28th, 2017, at 3:00 pm at Willamette National in Portland. |
