Obituary: Gladys Sharpe Josey, 89, of Statesville, formerly of Olin, died , 25, 2015, at Gordon Hospice House. She was born 14, 1925, in Iredell and was the daughter of the late Roy and Minnie Deal Sharpe. She retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of Olin United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Josey, whom she married on May 14, 1960; two sisters, Mary L. Stevenson and Irene Church; and two brothers, James S. Sharpe and Clyde Sharpe. She is survived by two sisters, Lois (Bobby) Wooten of Walkertown and Verlyn Campbell of Statesville; a brother, Carl (Dru) Sharpe of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service celebrating Gladys life will be held at 2:00 PM , 1, 2015, at Snow Creek United Methodist Church . The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson . Obituary: Flynt Josey Flynt Josey, 77, of Charlotte, died on 28, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. His cherished memory will forever be remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He was born in Albemarle, NC on 5, 1934 to Flynt and Ruby Varner Josey. Flynt was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church for the last 43 years and was an avid member of the Chipley Bible Class. In Flynts younger years he played the trombone for the local Josey Brown Band. His interests also included being a member of the Queen City Tennis League in Charlotte, a sport he truly loved. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Nancy Josey of Charlotte; one son Phil Josey and his wife Pam of Charlotte; one daughter Monte Josey Kearns and her husband Donald Jr. of Pickerington, Ohio; four grandchildren Brad Josey and his wife Erin, Kyle Josey, Jason Kearns and Jessica Kearns; one great grandchild Bryson Josey; one brother Bob Josey and his wife Gail; an lastly his beloved dog Jessie. A Graveside Service will be at 9:30 a.m. on , 4, 2011 at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 E. Main St., Albemarle, NC 28001. A Memorial Service will follow on the same day at 2:00 pm at Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211 with Dr. Ken Carter and Dr. Bill Jeffries officiating. Obituary: Clint Josey, 68 of Statesville, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical in Winston-Salem. He was born in Iredell on 28, 1941, son of the late Clint Josey, Sr and Ruth Bass Josey. He was also preceded in death by a brother Fred Josey and a sister Pauline Gryder. He was a graduate of Harmony High School and was retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. after more than 30 years of service. Clint is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Patsy Scott Josey, four sons; Eddie Josey (Edith), Andy Josey (Sindy), Randy Josey(Tammy) and Ricky Josey (Linda), seven grandchildren; Bradley, Alan, Kristin, Cody, Heather, Travis, and Kevin Josey all of Statesville. Also surviving is a sister, Thelma Menscer (Don) of Statesville. Clint was a member of Providence United Methodist Church where services celebrating his life are scheduled for at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ron Karriker officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson , and at other times will be at the residence of the deceased. Obituary: Helen Ellis Josephs, 93, of Charlotte, NC passed away on 3, 2015. She was born on 23, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland. Whether you knew Helen well or just casually, you felt her zest for life. Helen cared for and deeply loved her family and friends. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Chuck Raburn of Concord, and sister Charlotte Ellis of Palm Beach, FL. She leaves behind grandchildren that simply adore her, Scott Raburn of Charlotte and Michael Raburn and wife Courtney of Arlington, Va. Helen was the beloved wife of the late I. Mac Josephs formerly of Raleigh and beloved mother of Joel Josephs who passed away in 2012. Helen lived life with all of her heart. Her loving family will always carry her memory, love, determination and zest for life in their hearts. Raleigh is where Helen raised her family with such amazing love and built a lifetime of friends. She knew how to make anything special. Her home was like a big smile, so welcoming and alive as she loved it being full with family, friends and her childrens friends. She created a warm home, protective and full of love. Helen was active in Temple Beth Or. She was instrumental in creating the welcoming and exciting atmosphere of the stores owned by her and her husband. Later in life Helen moved to Charlotte to be close to family and watch her grandsons that she so adored grow up. It was a gift to her daughter and family to have her part of the fabric of their lives. Helen was so happy to see her oldest son marry and see her family grow with love and new memories. Her grandchildren treasure all their Grandma memories, laughter, wisdom and love. In Charlotte, Helen was fortunate to find a cozy place to work where those she worked with became friends. At The Buttercup she enjoyed helping families pick out the perfect invitations for milestone celebrations. Helen worked until age 92 because she loved being around people and making a difference. Helen enjoyed life and made the most of it. She knew how to make going out to lunch fun just as she knew how to make a holiday meal have so much meaning. She lived a long life and taught us by how she lived. From her we learn to embrace life - live, love, laugh, care, share and connect. And that she did. A Service of Reflection will be held at 4:00 , 6, 2015 at Temple Beth El in Charlotte. Graveside service will be held at 1 oclock on , 7, 2015 at Raleigh Hebrew , 450 N. State Street between Oakwood Avenue and Glascock Street. Obituary: Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Stephen Joseph, age 93, of passed away peacefully at Carolina East Medical in New Bern, NC on May 7th, 2015. He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on 28, 1921 to the late Alex and Lena Joseph. As a young man he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and worked in Montana and other western states. At the onset of World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman, was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division. participating in the D-Day invasion, his unit traveled to southern Germany where he met his future wife, Helen. rotating back to the U.S., he was instrumental in helping form the Special Forces unit Green Berets, where he served as Command Sergeant Major with the 1st, 5th, 7th and 10th Special Forces Groups. He served 3 tours in Vietnam as well as numerous other countries. He retired to Fayetteville, NC after 30 years of military service and worked with the U.S. Postal Service for an additional 15 years as a mail carrier at Ft. Bragg, NC. He enjoyed playing golf and working outdoors in his numerous gardening and landscaping projects. Both he and Helen, his wife were active members of the Fort Bragg chapters of the Retired Military Association (RMA) and Special Forces Association. He valued education and studied 7 different foreign languages. He was an avid reader, including reading the Bible several times. He was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years by 3 weeks. He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Hampton and Linda Morrissey, both of Hope Mills, NC and sons Thomas Joseph of New Bern, NC and Robert Joseph of Longwood, Fl. He also had 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Special Forces Association, PO Box 41436., Fayetteville, NC 28309 in Stephens memory. |
