Obituary: Martha Everett Jones died , 19, 2015 at Vidant Medical in Greenville, NC. She was a resident of Brookdale W. Arlington Boulevard, Greenville and a former resident of Williamston, NC. A service celebrating her life will be held at Memorial Baptist Church in Williamston, NC on , 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., conducted by The Reverend Robbie Parker. Visitation will be at Biggs in Williamston on , 21, 2015, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Mrs. Jones was a bookkeeper for many years with Belk Tyler , W. L. Howell Accounting and finally her own business where she filed tax returns for many Martin citizens before her retirement in 1985. She was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, taught school, was active in her church circle and school class and was a long time church treasurer. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Jones; parents, Fannie and George Everett; sister, Mary Whitley; brothers William, Richard, Charles Daughtry C. D., Clayton and The Reverend Grover Everett as well as a stepsister, Mabel Cobert. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Jones Cooke and husband The Reverend James C. Cooke, Jr. of Greenville, granddaughters Katherine Cooke and husband Michael Lowenstern of Brooklyn, NY, Anna Cooke and husband Brett Heine of Las Vegas, NV, great-granddaughter Ariel Lowenstern of Brooklyn, NY, sister Jean Brown of Rocky Mount, brother Robert Everett of Gold Point, sister-in-law Marjorie Everett of Winterville as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses their thanks for the kindness and care of the dedicated staff of Brookdale W. Arlington and Vidant Medical , Greenville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 109 Church Street, Williamston, NC 27892. . |

Obituary: Charlotte - a life of love, service and faithfulness, Marjorie Carolyn Bowden Jones, 92, joined her Creator on 11, 2015. Born on 7, 1923 in Paris, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Annie Laurie Hoffman Bowden. Although Marjorie started Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, her dedication to service and love of adventure called her to join the Navy as a Navy WAVE in 1942. serving in Washington, D.C. during World War II, flying around the country and breaking many hearts, she returned to Murray State and married the love of her life, a tall dark and handsome John Thomas (JT) Jones, who lovingly referred to her as Face due to her natural beauty and grace. While teaching art and raising two of her four children, Marjorie earned a degree from Murray State and graduated in 1952. Always the artist, she was brilliant at interior design, and used her talents to sell real estate in Charlotte for over 20 years. Sharing, serving, guiding and loving her family were some of her greatest pleasures and greatest gifts to her adoring family. Nanny, as she is known to her grandchildren, was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents and her Lord, joyfully greeting Marjorie were her beloved husband, JT; her sisters, Sarah Jane Bowden and Betty Bowden Bryant; her son, John Michael Jones; her grandson, Jonah Gray; and her son-in-law, Steve McNeal. Surviving are her children, Leslie Jones of Charlotte, NC, Patti Newsom (Steve) of Columbia, SC and Melissa McNeal of Charlotte, NC; her brother, Dr. Robert Bowden (Gail) of Blacksburg, VA; her daughter-in-law, Dr. Frances Story Jones of Lancaster, SC; her eight grandchildren, Marcus Dilley (Ashley) and Annie Jones (Jason) of Fort Mill, SC, Jami Budd (Brian) of Arcola, IL, Chris Jones (Marcia) of Greenwood, IN, Erika Byrd (Jordan) and Taylor Newsom of Greenville, SC, Jennifer Cassell (Robert) of Winston-Salem, NC and Austin McNeal (Crystal) of Reidsville, NC; her special grandchildren, Stacey, Joshua and Caleb Story of Lancaster, SC; her fourteen great-grandchildren, Liberty, Honor and Justus Dilley, Talan and Jax Jones, Madelyn, Collin and Elizabeth Budd, Emma and Elliott Jones, Jones Byrd, and Olivia, Hannah and Colby Gray; and special family and friends, all who cherish her memory and give thanks for the blessing she was to their lives. Services will be private for the family.
