Obituary: Jerrell Elizabeth Fortenberry Jeffers, 87, died peacefully on , 28, 2016 at Trinity Grove nursing home in Wilmington, NC. Born on 13, 1928 in Cleveland , NC, the daughter of the late Laura Ettie Smith Fortenberry and Robert Bruce Fortenberry, she was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Sue Fortenberry Sweezy and Annette Fortenberry Kendrick, and brother, Robert Edd Fortenberry. Jerry married the late Dwight Norman Jeffers on 21, 1949 and together they lived in Gastonia, Salisbury, Greensboro and finally Wilmington. both loved Wilmington and upon moving there, Jerry followed Dwights urging to learn to play golf and became a regular on Ladies Day at Pine Valley Country Club, as well as enjoying countless rounds of golf together with Dwight and other couples, not only at Pine Valley, but on their infamous golf trips. Jerry was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship School class. An active participant and volunteer at many church functions, her favorite was the annual BBQ supper sponsored by the school class at which her coleslaw was always in demand. Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Jeffers Sherrod (Becky) and her husband, Marty, and son, Robert David Jeffers (Bobby) and his wife, Candace, as well as five grandchildren - Matt, Harrison, McKinley, Quentin, and Leah. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Davey. She is survived by three great-grandchildren, Rustyn, Kendra and Oliver. She is also survived by Kitty, a stray feral cat who adopted Jerry and gradually went from being an untamed outdoor cat to being a full-time indoor cat. Although Dwight was the first love of her life, Kitty was the last love of her life and the focus of her world. The family would like to thank Wanda Ashley and Mary Ann Lewis for helping care for Kitty while Jerry was at Trinity Grove. The family would also like to thank everyone at Trinity Grove nursing home for the wonderful support and care given to Jerry during her time there. In addition, they are especially grateful to her sitter, Ronia Burney, and Trinity Grove administrator, John Frye. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on , 2, 2016 at Wesley Memorial Church, 1401 S. Road, Wilmington, NC; with visitation preceding the service at 10:00 at the church. Burial will follow immediately at Oleander Memorial Gardens. |

Obituary: Charlotte - Harvey P. Jeffers (MAI) (SREA), 83, passed away 28, 2014 at Presbyterian Harris Hospice. He was born 30, 1931 in Rochester, N.Y. to the late Robert Buck Jeffers and Jessie Mae Kirk Jeffers. Harvey graduated with a B.A. degree in 1953 from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Penna. Mr. Jeffers served in the U.S. Army, 9th Army Signal Corps-Intelligence Division, in the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany. Mr. Jeffers was a commercial real estate appraiser. He was president of Midland Appraisal Associates in Rochester, N.Y.; senior vice-president and chief appraiser at Landauer Associates in New York, N.Y.; a member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI); a member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers (SREA); and a former member of the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE). Harvey was fond of saying that he had appraised a catfish farm in Edenton, N.C. to the Twin Towers of the World Trade in N.Y. Mr. Jeffers was a member of the Appraisal Institute National Faculty from 1972 - 1996. In 1968, he authored Present Worth Factors for Monthly Payments in Advance and Reversionary Interest. Harvey is survived by his wife, Louise Stollman Jeffers; his twin daughters, Karen Jeffers Gatz and Sharon Jeffers Steiner; his sons, Harvey Jeffers, Wayne Jeffers and Scott Jeffers; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on , Dec. 10th at Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Obituary: CARY, N.C.- Gordon Winsby Jeffers, 80, of Picayune, MS and Cary, NC passed away 25, 2016 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC. He was born 17, 1935 in Sioux City, IA a son of Walter George and Bertha Irene Pratt Jeffers. Gordon enrolled in New Mexico A&M University (now New Mexico State University) in Las Cruces, New Mexico, earning a degree in mechanical engineering in 1959, and worked for Rockwell International a Los Angeles, CA based aerospace company. Gordon spent 35 years in the US aerospace industry in several positions supporting rocket engine testing and test stand design. He retired in 1993 as the Rocketdyne manager of the Space Shuttle Main Engine B Test Complex at Stennis Space in Bay St. Louis, MS. In 1961, Gordon married Sharon Bryant. He is survived by Sharon; a son, Gordon Scott Jeffers of Tampa, FL; and a daughter and son in law, Susan and Craig Wright of Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, and three sisters. A celebration of Gordons life with family and friends will take place in Mississippi. Obituary: Dwight Norman Jeffers, 90, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully , May 31, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical . Dwight was born on 30, 1924 in Cleveland to the late Ambrose James Jeffers and Margaret Norman Jeffers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Warren and John. Dwight served proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He taught high school and coached girls basketball before joining Southern Bell where he worked until his retirement as district marketing manager. He was a long-time member at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, an avid golfer, and a member at Pine Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Jerry Jeffers; Son, Bobby Jeffers (wife, Candace) of Castle Hayne; daughter, Becky Sherrod (husband, Marty) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Davey, Matt, Quentin, Harrison, Leah, and McKinley; great grandchildren, Rustyn and Kendra. services will be held on , 4, 2014 ay 11:00 am at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
