Obituary: Jones, Chris L. of Morris, AL born 14, 1956, passed away on 12, 2014 at the age of 58. Chris was one of a kind, a wonderful and loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He has enjoyed being "Papa Bear" to his two grandbabies more than anyone could imagine. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. In his free time he loved Auburn Football and Braves baseball. Chris retired from the Birmingham Police Department in 2010 after 27 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Willie Mae Jones; brother, Lynn Jones . He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Jones; daughters, Christen Hinds (John) and Lindsay Jones; sisters, Glenene Stewart (Don) and Donna Daniel (Jim); brother, Ronny Jones (Glenda); sisters in law Jeannie Jones and Debbie Burleson (Lance); grandchildren, Camden and Livi Hinds; mother in law, Ruth Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary: Douglas Wright Jones “Chief Jones” age 59 of Helena, AL was called home to be with our Lord on , May 20, 2016 when his good works on this earth were finished. He was preceded in death by his adored parents, Percy Wright Jones and Mattie Melba Davis Jones of Helena, AL and beloved sister, Peggy Joyce Jones Harpst. He is survived by his cherished wife, Melissa Davenport Jones; brother, William “Bill” Jones (Lori) of Fort Worth, TX; sons, Ross Naish, Justin Klepin and Kyle Jones; numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends, and the extended family of the Helena Police force. Chief Jones served the City of Helena for 34 years in law enforcement until his retirement in , 2015. Obituary: service for Lt. Col. Charles Eugene Jones Sr. (Ret.), 81, of Saks will be 10:00 am, , 9, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Saks with Dr. Randy Postell officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Alabama National . The family will receive friends evening from 6-8 pm at Gray Brown-Service. Survivors include, Wife, Edith Jennette Johnson Jones; daughter, Donna Jones LaMond (Marc); son, Charles E. Jones, Jr. (Dorothy); sisters, Bertie Jean Randolph (Wendell) and Patsy Ann Foster (Ronnie); grandchildren, Melissa Barret LaMond, Sarah Michelle LaMond, John Taylor LaMond, Joshua Browning Jones, and Caleb Austen Jones; aunt, Katherine Jordan Eastridge (Al); numerous nieces and nephews; and special yorkie friend, Cricket. Preceded in death by, father, Grady Ralph Jones; mother, Edna Redd Jordan; sisters, Judy Sue Jordan and Jewel Nolan. Born in Collinsville, Alabama, Col. Jones graduated from Lee H.S. in Auburn, AL (51). Joining the military right out of high school, he served 27 years in the military, U.S. Army and Air Force, rising from private to lieutenant colonel. Early in his career he served as an operating room tech at Francis E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY. Later, he served as an operating room tech at Anniston Memorial Hospital. Subsequently, Col. Jones went to nursing school at University (of Ala.) Hospital in Birmingham, followed by anesthesia school there. Although he graduated from the Univ. of Ala., he was a huge Auburn fan, beginning his college studies there. While in school, he was in the Army Reserve and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. graduating, he came back to Anniston and worked as a nurse anesthetist for six years. Then, he went back in the U.S. Air Force as an officer. He flew air evac with the 903rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron in Vietnam. While serving in the Vietnam Conflict, Col. Jones earned the Bronze Star for caring for 99 ambushed, critically wounded marines, all of whom survived due to his stellar care. He has resided in the Anniston area since retiring from the Air Force in 85. He worked at NE Ala. RMC until 2000 when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Over the years, he underwent numerous treatments, beginning at MD Anderson Cancer (Houston, TX) and supplemented by treatments at UAB. He succumbed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which stemmed from his lymphoma. Col. Jones was boy scout leader, a mason, and deacon at First Baptist Church of Saks. He was a true church leader, who was involved in about every facet of church activities. Col. Jones had many, many admirers and friends. One friend said there were only a few people after whom he modeled his life and desired to emulate, and Charles Jones was one of them. A co-worker in Japan said, I was right out of my anesthesia residency and had little experience in trauma cases when I arrived at Tachikawa. I knew that he knew that he had better skills in these cases, but he never let me know his true feelings. What a professional and gentleman. There are many a young severely injured airman who survived because of the expertise of [him]. Pallbearers are Al Eastridge, Roy Houston, Mike Howard, Lester Huckaby, Caleb Jones, Joshua Jones, John LaMond, and Doug Shaddix. Honorary pallbearers are his School class at First Baptist Church of Saks. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Baptist Church of Saks Christian Life (4723 Saks Rd., Anniston, AL 36206). |
