Obituary: Kerry was a man who loved life and living it. He was born Feb. 2, 1947 to Ella Niemann and Clifford Jacobson. Three years later he was joined by a sister Terry Lynn(Su-Z). In 1955 Ella married William (Bill) Frichette who raised and loved Kerry as only a true "dad" could. Bill was a wonderful role model and did much to help mold Kerry into the wonderful person he became. Kerry spent his high school years in Hawaii where Bill was stationed in the United States Navy. Kerry spent more time surfing and hanging out on the beaches than attending classes. He loved the time spent there. He wanted to play football but was unable to do that. But he enjoyed Radford High School. In 1964 Kerry joined the United States Army. He was deployed to three combat tours in Vietnam. He was awarded many medals while serving in Vietnam including the Bronze Star. He never talked much about his service in Vietnam but he was proud of his service to his country even though it was a unpopular war. In 1969 Kerry met Brenda at the NCO Club at Ft. McClellan Al and was immediately smitten. He arranged an introduction and six weeks later they were married. The Chaplain on Ft McClellan refused to perform the ceremony because he said it would not last. were married 20, 1969 at the Rev. Oscar Cottons home in Oxford Al. began their married life in Ft. Benning GA. Not long after their marriage Kerry again came up on orders to Vietnam. He returned and served proudly, he did come home early and on 30, 1971 Kerry Michelle Jacobson made her appearance. She was to be named Lisa Michelle but somewhere between the maternity floor and the records department she became Kerry Michelle. She was teased for years that Thank Goodness her dads name was not Buford. As a young family they came up on orders to Germany. Kerry went first and soon Brenda and Michelle followed. were lucky to have relatives over there to make being away from home easier. On 18, 1974 Candace Elaine was born. Kerry was home sleeping when Kerry gave birth and the nurse called Sgt Jackson instead of Sgt Jacobson and informed him that his wife had just given birth. Sgt Jackson replied "I hope not she is in bed with me try Sgt. Jacobson his wife is expecting." It was known then life would never be boring in the Jacobson household. returning from Germany Kerry got out of the army. The family traveled all over the United States. There was not alot of money or material things but there was always love. All the kids loved staying at the Jacobson House. It was the cool play to hang out. In 1992 Michelle married Larry Symonette in Alaska. There was no family there but they were blessed and loved by family. On 11, 1993 Mcihelle and Larry gave Kerry the greatest gift in the world his first grandson, Joshua Matthew. Josh was the light of his life and he babysat for him alot when Larry and Michelle were working. Josh even shared Pink Eye with his Papa. Kerry loved playing Power Rangers with Josh and bought every one that came out. "GO GO Power Rangers was heard alot around the house. In 1998 Kandie married Jose Perez and Kerry had the honor of walking her down the aisle. Joses wedding band had gotten misplaced and they were married with Kerrys wedding band. 1999 was a banner year as two grandchildren were born Shaianne and Tyler. Kerry loved being a grandfather and was a wonderful one. His family was the most important thing in his life. He never judged and loved unconditionally. He loved watching all of his grandchildren playing sports or doing anything they enjoyed. He believed his job was to spoil them and love them with all his heart and soul. Kerry and Brenda moved from Las Vegas to Weaver Al in 2006. He loved the south. When he got a job at AOD he was very happy. He loved what he did and was happier than he had ever been in a job. He loved working with guns and while deployed he loved working with the young GIs. He was proud to go to Iraq twice to serve his country once again. Kerry was taken from us way too soon. There is a hole in our heart that will never be filled until we are reunitied some day in Heaven. But we know for now he is up there looking out for us and wanting us to be happy and not shed so many tears. He loved us with his everything and the void we feel is so great. He was our hero. is watching out for us now. |

Obituary: Rodney Gary Jacobs Of Fort Payne, AL Rodney Gary Jacobs, 67, of Fort Payne, AL, formerly of Man, WV, passed away , 29, 2014, at Fort Payne, AL, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his sons by his side. He was born on 1, 1947, in Logan, WV, a son of the late Willis Jack and Helen Terezakis Jacobs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Joe Jacobs; special nephew Christopher Jacobs, maternal grandparents, Michael and Gladys Terezakis, and paternal grandparents, Willis and Allie Jacobs. Gary was a veteran of the US Army, and a retired coal miner. Those left to cherish his memory are his two devoted sons, Rodney (Eileen) Jacobs, Jr. of Moline, IL, and Michael Lee Jacobs of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Gladys (Tom) Statzer of Man, WV; two brothers, Lucky (Tammy) Jacobs, and Tony (Doris) Jacobs both of Robinette, WV; three granddaughters, Cassandra Coyle, and Samantha and Madelaine Jacobs; three nieces, Brandy Statzer, Tiffany Jacobs, and Emily Jacobs, two nephews, Joey Jacobs and Ryan Johnson; and dearest friend George Politakis; along with a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. , 3, 2014 at the Krantz-McNeely at Man, WV. Inurnment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV, where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 6153 & American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and DAV Post 39 of Harts. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on .
