Obituary: KENNETH MICHAEL "MIKE" JACKSON JACKSON, KENNETH MICHAEL "MIKE" It is with great regret and sadness that the friends and family of Kenneth Michael "Mike" Jackson announce his passing on 1, 2010, at the age of 60 years. He was born on 19, 1950 in Huntington, West Virginia. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1974. He was a graduate of UAB School of and subsequently graduated suma cum laude from UAB School of Nurse Anesthesia. He worked at South/UAB Highlands Hospital as a nurse anesthetist for the past 14 years, where he was loved and admired by co-workers for his intelligence, strong work ethic, and most of all his smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Morton Jackson and Mildred Thorn Jackson. He is survived by three brothers: Jimmy (Barbara) Jackson of Kingston, TN, Larry (Alvena) Jackson of Tarpon Springs, FL, Ronnie (Sue) Jackson of West Virginia, sister Sharon Brown of Tarpon Springs, FL., as well as his nieces. Michael will be forever loved and remembered by his dear friends, especially Carolyn, Mike Lee, and Joe Milan, among so many others whose lives he touched. His passions were skydiving, horticulture, and enjoying full moons and sunsets from his pontoon boat. Michaels spirit, sense of humor, and love of life will live on in our memories. It was Michaels wish to have his earthly remains cremated and placed at rest in the columbarium at Arlington National in Washington, D.C. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on , 9, 2010 at Johns Ridouts Chapel at 2116 University Blvd, Birmingham. Visitation will take place in the chapel at 11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 12 Noon. A reception will follow. Those who so desire may make a contribution to your favorite charity in his name. |

Obituary: Melinda Lea Farler Jackson, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on , 24, 2015 at the age of 53. She was surrounded by her loving family to whom she had given so much of herself. Born in Austin, Texas on 6, 1962, she was adopted at birth by Morris Glenn Farler and Mary Turner Farler. Both of her beloved parents preceded her in death. In the summer of 1979, she met and won the heart of the man who would cherish her for the remainder of her days and on 3, 1981, she exchanged wedding vows with Steve W. Jackson whom she leaves behind to cherish and carry on her memory. She is also survived by son and daughter in law, Jeremy Jackson (Cassandra); daughter, Kathryn Marie Jackson; two beautiful granddaughters, Alexis Jordan Jackson and Claire Elizabeth Wohlford; sister and brother in law, Mora Farler OBanion (John); three nieces, one nephew and an uncountable number of other people whose lives she impacted in so many ways with her incredible generosity of spirit and her giving nature. Obituary: Max Boyce Jackson, a resident of Dothan, died peacefully night, 8, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side. He was 88. services will be held 2:00 p.m. , 12, 2015 at Byrd Chapel on West Main Street with Rev. Tim Willis, Rev. Ray Jones and Rev. Orrin Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill with Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. on . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301. Mr. Jackson was born 10, 1926 in Dale (Corinth Community) to Sinthy and Minnie Baxley Jackson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and graduated from Midland City High School in 1947. He started serving his apprenticeship at Ward-Wilson in Dothan and graduated from Gupton-Jones of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tennessee in 1952. Returning to Ward-Wilson, Mr. Jackson worked as an embalmer and funeral director and later served as president and partner in the firm. He had been with the firm 41 years when he sold his interest. Retirement was brought to an end when he was asked to join the firm of Byrd . He was an active funeral director and embalmer there for 24 years and served the last 2½ years as a consultant. He will be remembered as a true professional, offering comfort and compassion to the countless families he served during his career. Mr. Jackson was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Alton Cantrell School Class. He had been active in several civic organizations and presently was a member of the American Legion, the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, a young brother, Glen Jackson, and his brother and sister-in-law, Berman and Eva Jackson. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elsie Williams Jackson; one daughter, ELisa Carol Jackson; nephew, Buddy Jackson (Mary); nieces, Jane Taylor, Jenny Richie (Rodney), and Jan Robertson (Dale); brother-in-law, Charles E. Williams; and several cousins including Charline Greco (Larry). Serving as active pallbearers will be Bill Karwan, Dr. Bryan Bain, Larry Jones, Chase Jackson, Joe Jeffcoat, and Bill Trant. Honorary pallbearers will be area funeral directors and members of his School class. |
