Obituary: John E. Joplin, 83, of Fort Smith, passed away in Fort Smith. He was born 6, 1931 in Fort Smith to John Ed Joplin and Fern Wiley Joplin. He was a Presbyterian, a Mason for 50 years, member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman, Army Combat Veteran of the 3rd Infantry Division during the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked for the Kansas City Southern and Santa Fe Railroads for over 46 years holding several positions and was past member of the Association of American Railroads. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 1/2 years Nancy Evelyn Joplin. service will be 2:00 PM at the Pavilion at National with Ben Shure and Paul Bridges officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow under the direction of Edwards . He is survived by sons John Edward Joplin III and wife Linda of Greenwood, AR and Paul David Joplin, Sr. of Fort Smith, AR, daughter Lisa Gayle Toahty and husband David of Oklahoma City, OK, brother William W. (Bill) Joplin of Jacksonville, AR, grandsons Jeremy Joplin and wife Jen of Fort Smith, AR, Sean Toahty of Oklahoma City, OK and Paul David Joplin, Jr. of Sallisaw, OK, Granddaughters Jennifer Shure and husband Ben of Fort Smith, AR and Elissa Barnes of Oklahoma City, OK, great grandsons Levi and Luke Shure and Jett Joplin and great granddaughters Charis Shure and Jaylin Joplin of Fort Smith, AR. Obituary: Zack Wade Jones, 81, of Bald Knob, died , 14, 2016 at his home. He was born May 27, 1934 in Bald Knob to the late Harley and Francis Faye (Fairless) Jones. Zack was of the Baptist faith, he loved trapping and fishing, hunting and farming, but he loved his wife and family most of all. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty (Stevens) Jones; his son, Kenneth Wade Jones (Diana); two daughters, Lorraine (Jones) Horton and Angela (Jones) Weatherford (Ben); a sister, Joyce Bradley (Jim); 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; a special friend, fishing buddy and brother-in-law, Marvin Moser; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Summit Hospice. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be held , 2:00 p.m., at the Powell Chapel in Bald Knob. Obituary: Dr. Wyatt Jones, 86, passed away peacefully the morning of , 13, 2016. He was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Wyatt was born on 19, 1930 in Samburg, Tennessee. He enjoyed a full and adventurous life in service to others. He earned his Bachelor degree in 1951 from Harding University in the field of Mathematics and earned a teaching certificate. Soon after he began work on his Doctorate in Education from the University of Alabama graduating in 1962. His work took him to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and then eventually returned him to his alma mater, Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. As a professor, he traveled with students around the world including Australia, Italy, and Germany. Dr. Wyatt Jones also proudly served his country and was a veteran of the Korean War. His service also reached many others as a preacher and active member in several congregations in both California and Arkansas. Wyatt enjoyed an active life after retirement filling his time with his many passions. He was an avid reader and was a well known patron of the local library. Wyatt loved the game of golf spending many days out on the greens with friends. He also filled many hours fishing, playing bridge, cribbage and other card games. His traveling, golfing, and fishing adventures were fodder for his famous storytelling. Wyatt could mesmerize a whole room with tales of his escapades. His story of his adventure to defend his dissertation after being rescued by the local fire department is legendary. Wyatt enjoyed the company of others throughout his life and was active and impactful with many groups in which he served. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Iris Jones; his children, Karen Post (Wayne), Phillip Jones, and Kevin Jones (Karen); grandchildren, Kimberly Davey (Lee), Michael Post (Mandi), Stephen Post (Michelle), and Dylan Jones; and great-grandchildren, Ashlynn & Madeline Davey, Colt & Cade Post, and Lorelei Post. Wyatt was a God-loving, faith-filled, kind, and genuine man. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. |
