Obituary: Virginia Francis Jennie Jerry, 85 of El Dorado, died , 18, 2014 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Jennie was the first daughter of Floyd and Odell Cromwell Cottingham; she was born 11, 1929 in Blevins, Arkansas. Growing up in Prescott, Arkansas she married Hugh Andrews. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church of El Dorado. Her family was her life and she always had a smile and laugh, she loved cooking, raising flowers and vegetables, all while being a talented quilt maker. Preceding her in death along with her parents were her two husbands, Hugh Andrews and Belton Jerry, brothers, Jackie, Billy, and Bennie Cottingham and sisters, Emma Cottingham and Faye Lavender and brothers-in-law, Douglas Lavender and Richie Richardson. Survivors include a son, Gerald Wayne Andrews (Faye) of Prescott, and daughters, Gloria Jean Rogers (John) of El Dorado and Deborah Ann Tucker (Merle) of Spearsville, LA. Surviving sisters are, Floy Richardson of Little Rock, Marilyn Evans and Jo Huskey (James) all of El Dorado and Sandra Still of Little Rock. Also surviving are grandchildren, Carmon Cole, John Andy Rogers, Garrett Andrews, Teresa Tucker, Jason Tucker and Tucker along with great-grandchildren, Derek Cole and Dillon Cole. services will be held at 2:00 pm , 22, 2014 at Youngs Chapel with Rev. Bob Inmon officiating. Interment will follow in Old Union under the direction of Youngs Directors. The family will receive friends at Youngs on from 1:00 pm until service time. Obituary: Rash R.J. Jerry, Jr., 89 of El Dorado, passed away , 24, 2016, at his residence. He was born 29, 1926, to Walter Rash Jerry, Sr. and Aulene Church Jerry in Strong, AR. Upon graduation from Strong High School, he was drafted the following day into the United States Army. As the war drew to a close, he served 13 months in Japan after Hiroshima as a peace-keeper before being discharged. Returning home in 1947, he went to work for Root Petroleum in El Dorado, which later became American Oil. On his way home from work one day, he stopped by Burnsides Store and saw a girl that turned his head - Jean Woods. Two days later he paid a visit and 6 months later married the love of his life. The past 68 years cultivated a wonderful history for their children and grandchildren and a marriage that only God could separate. When American Oil closed in El Dorado he took a transfer to the Texas City, Texas refinery where he worked 10 ½ years before retiring after 35 years of service (1947-1982) to return home to El Dorado. Upon the death of his daughter, Joanna, together they welcomed with open arms and raised three of their grandchildren whose lives not only were blessed, but were surrounded by love. Growing up a country boy, his love for the outdoors was always deer and turkey hunting. Every hunting season he looked forward to his boys, grandson, and hunting buddies to congregate for making new memories and reliving old times, tall tales and unbelievable stories. He lived his life with a passion for his children, grandchildren, and friends - a life that anyone who knew R.J. will always remember him with a big smile, a warm hug or handshake, and a big heart. Even though he has a large family that will miss him more than they can voice, he also has so many friends that will always remember the good times! Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Otis, Roy, Ollie Bert Jerry, Unie Jerry Major, Guthrie Jerry Sorrells, Rachel Jerry Brown; children Judith Annette Jerry, Joanna Jerry Bryan; grandson, J.P. Bryan; and great granddaughter, Miranda Anne Jerry. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Norma Jean Woods Jerry; sons, Thomas Lynn Jerry and wife Vivian, Danny Ray Jerry and wife Joann; grandchildren, Jan Loftin and husband Todd, Casie Eads, Dawn Angela Dickson and husband Matt Benjamin, Mark Daniel Jerry and Jennifer Nicole; Candace Renee Hargis and husband Keith, Elizabeth Ann Ramey; great grandchildren, Scott Loftin and fiancé Allyson, Katie Eads, Kyle Eads, Hunter Ray Dickson, Ashlynn Nicole Dickson, Bradley Charles Rockefeller, Jenna Elaine Rockefeller, Logan Hargis, Jaxson Hargis, Nolan Hargis, Addison Dopson, Lee Ann Ramey; and great, great granddaughter, Averi Belle Loftin. Obituary: Norma Jean Jerry, 85, of El Dorado, passed away , May 2, 2017, at the Medical of South Arkansas. She was born at home as so many were in that day. She grew up near Old Hillsboro area and after marriage continued her life there, raising three children and three of her grandchildren. Many times Jean talked about the simpler way of life that she and her siblings enjoyed growing up. She would say we had nothing, but no one else did either and we were all happy and felt blessed. Jean attended Pleasant Grove School thru the 8th grade and completed her education at El Dorado High School when consolidation of schools began. Immediately afterwards she met R.J. Jerry who stole her heart and became the love of her life, six months later on 30, 1948, they married and enjoyed 69 years together. She enjoyed good times and endured sad times in her journey of life. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her devotion to family, her strength of character and her unconditional love for each of them. She was the rock of the family. Belief in her Lord and Savior will always be remembered by loved ones and her many friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, George and Grace Murray Woods; husband, R.J. Obituary: John William Jerrell, 91, of Alma, passed away , 1, 2014. He was born 8, 1922 in Fort Smith to the late Leo and Georgia Jerrell. He was a retired farmer, a member of Fern Assembly of God in Fern, AR, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge; and a certified Grottos Lector. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Lee Jerrell. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Betty Jean Jerrell of the home; two daughters, Sharon Jerrell of Alma, and Linda Wilbourn and husband Bill of Rudy; a brother, Robert Jerrell and wife Shirley of Fort Smith; three grandsons, Craig Wilbourn and wife Tricia, Kevin Wilbourn and wife Amanda, and Shannon Wilbourn and wife Pansy; ten great-grandchildren, Jessica Wilbourn, Melissa Robertson and husband Willy, Abby Wilbourn, Charley Wilbourn, Harley Davis and husband Kaleb, Dillon Wilbourn, Cody Wilbourn, Matthew Wilbourn, Isiah Wilbourn, and Hunter Wilbourn; and four great-great-grandchildren, Ryzen Belle Star, Braxton Davis, Raven Jones, and soon to arrive, Maddox Doyle. service will be 2:00 p.m. , 6, 2014 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel with interment to follow at Dora , under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma of Van Buren, AR. Pallbearers will be Craig Wilbourn, Kevin Wilbourn, Shannon Wilbourn, Dillon Wilbourn, Cody Wilbourn, and Matthew Wilbourn. Obituary: Mr. Vaughn Acton Jerome, 70, died 18, 2016 at his home in Blytheville. Born 23, 1945 in Blytheville, he was the son of Dr. Newell G. Jerome and Margaret Jane Acton Jerome. He attended the Blytheville Schools, graduating in 1963. He was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Jerome graduated from Arkansas State University in 1967 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity. In the fall of 1967, he started the first band program at Highland High School near Hardy and Cherokee Village. He was the band director there for 16 years. In 1986, he returned to Blytheville and took the position of Media Director for the Blytheville Public Schools. He remained in that position until his retirement in 1998. He was a former member of the Blytheville Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the first class of the Blytheville Leadership Institute. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Blytheville, having been christened and married in it. He is on the Board of Directors of NEA Pageant Association, and Vice President of Chickasaw Shooting Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Newell Jerome, Jr. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Marrietta Graves Jerome; his children, William Jerome of Blytheville and Heather Jerome of Blytheville; three grandchildren, Carol Davis of Jonesboro, Jonathan Davis of the United State Marine Corps, and Debra Davis of Vine Grove, Kentucky; one brother, Stewart Jerome of Blytheville; and sister-in-law, Eva Lee Graves of Blytheville. services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., , 20th at First United Methodist Church. The Dr. Robin Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood . The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cobb . Memorials should be sent to First United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 104, and the Blytheville Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com. |
