Obituary: Ever Nell Legs Joiner, 76, of Columbus, GA passed away , 3, 2015 under the watchful care of Columbus Hospice. She was born 28, 1939 in Columbus to her late parents Bill and Elsie Carter. Legs lived in Columbus all her life and attended Edgewood Baptist Church. She loved to cook, and was the care giver for many children. She loved family gatherings and being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Obituary: Dorothy Wynn Joiner died peacefully 17, 2010 after a short illness in St. Simons Island, GA with her daughters at her bedside. Dorothy Wynn Joiner was born 28, 1922 in Henry , Georgia, the daughter of the late Sara McKneeley Wynn and the late Morris Byron Wynn. She grew up in Macon and attended Bibb Schools. She received an Associate degree from Georgia at Milledgeville, Georgia. Her devotion to her church, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), was manifest in her service as elder and school teacher until she was 86. She was a dedicated choir member and organ and piano accompanist for 60 years. She held positions of leadership in the Christian Womens Fellowship as state president and multiple local positions. She devoted time to Meals on Wheels and served as President of the Vineville Towers Board. Her community service extended to over 50 years with Civic Womens Club and 40 years as a Red Cross Volunteer. In her later years she read for the blind with the Georgia Radio Reading Service. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, John Gordon Joiner and her brother, Maurice Byron Wynn. She is survived by: her daughters Nancy Hiatt (Joe) and Lynn Lane; her grandchildren are Nancy Marie Lane Douglas (Dave), Michael Lane (Deb), Catherine Hiatt Martin (Jason), Dorothy Hiatt Luyendyk (Kevin), and Carol Hiatt Smith (Paul). Her great grandchildren Caroline Lynn and Brooklyn Grace Douglas, Gabriel Sinclair Lane, John Preston, Harrison Hiatt and Ella Catherine Martin, Thompson Joseph Luyendyk and two babies soon to be born. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Gloria Wynn and Helen J. Thomas and her brothers-in-law Henry Joiner and Buford Joiner plus numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family members. She is also survived by her dear friend, Mary Malcom, whose love and compassion meant so much to her, especially in her last years after moving to St. Simons Island to be with her daughter, Lynn. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Joiner/Wynn memorial fund at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 2306 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204. Services will be held at the First Christian Church at the address above, on at 11:00 am, with Rev. Lynn J. Lane and Rev. Mary L. Malcom presiding. Burial will be at Riverside next to her devoted husband. Visitation will be held , from 5 to 7 pm at Snows Memorial Chapel, 746 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201. Obituary: Doris Watson Joiner Doris Watson Joiner of Decatur, Georgia, was the only child of the late Daniel William Watson of Roswell and Hazel Fillingame Watson of Springvale, Georgia. She was born in Alamo, Georgia on 1, 1920 and passed away on 21, 2014 in Decatur. Growing up in a smaller Atlanta, she graduated from Adair Park Elementary, Joseph Brown Junior High, Atlanta Girls High School in 1938 and Georgia State for Women (GSCW) in 1942 with a B.S. degree in elementary education. On 18, 1942, Doris married Marine Staff Sergeant William Rufus Joiner, Jr., her sweetheart from the Junior Department at Capital View Baptist Church. He was soon leaving for service in the South Pacific in WW II. Doris was a member of Decatur First Baptist Church for 62 years being involved with many areas of her church, but especially in the preschool ministry as the Director of the Beginner Department and the Joy-Dunstan School Class. Serving on the National Council of Camp Fire, USA, and as the President of the Atlanta Council in 1966, she received the Luther Halsey Gulick Award, the highest attainable award for a local volunteer. She was a stay at home mother, later a world traveler, a member of the Talisman Garden Club, two sixty year bridge clubs, and the GSCW Alumni Club. One of her favorite endeavors was running the Watson Joiner Farm in Springvale, Randolph , Georgia. Under her leadership the farm received the 1998 Georgia Centennial Family Farm Award from the Department of Natural Resources. This honor is given to selected farms which have been owned by the same family and continuously operated as family farms for at least 100 years. Doris was a resident of the Kingsbridge Retirement Community for the past 12 years and later A.G. Rhodes at Emory. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents. Survivors include her three daughters, Suzanne Joiner Nieman (Charles) of Atlanta, Kaye Elizabeth Joiner of Charleston, South Carolina, and Dana Joiner McGraw (Jim) of Dacula, grandchildren Michael Nieman (Carmen) of Lilburn, Laura Waters Burns (Marshall) of Charleston, SC, William Waters of Atlanta, Anthony McGraw of Atlanta, step-grandson Brian McGraw (Kristin) of Dacula and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Decatur First Baptist Church on 27, 2014 at 2 o’clock with a reception in the fellowship hall following. A private interment will be earlier at Westview .
