Obituary: Earl A. Jones was born on Jan. 4, 1920 and went to glory 4, 2010. He was born in St. Johns, KS to Aylor and Anna Jones, the third of six children. Surviving brother Roy Dale Jones (Mary) of St. Louis, MO and sister Helen Kain of Lacey, Washington. He was preceded in death by father Aylor Arthur Jones, mother Anna Eliza (Roberts), brother Leonard Jones and sisters Nova Trimble and Doris Peters. In 1926 the family moved to Iowa where he graduated from Monroe High School in 1938. In 1942 he joined the army where he served in the Signal Corps until World War II ended. During that time he and Pauline Wallace fell in love and were married in San Mateo, CA on 7, 1943. Pauline was the love of his life, and God gave them 66 wonderful years together. When asked what the most important things in his life were, Earl would answer My God and my family. Earl and Pauline had two children, Allen of Safford, AZ and Carole Jones Dalton of Phoenix. his military service Earl worked as an air conditioning and heating mechanic in Des Moines, IA. In 1953 he brought his family to Phoenix. Influenced by his wife, Pauline, Earl began attending Palmcroft Baptist Church and soon experienced revival. Step by step, the Lord Jesus transformed him into a choice servant and faithful witness. His first evangelistic sermons were preached at the Phoenix Rescue Mission. Earl was licensed on May 19, 1963 and ordained to the gospel ministry on 19, 1971, both at Palmcroft Baptist Church. He led the Evangelism Committee for some years, preaching regularly at local jails and rescue missions. Earl spent many evenings and weekends ministering at missions, hospitals, jails, rest homes, migrant camps, and youth detention centers. His passion was to share Gods Word and Gods love. Later he also taught a School class. He loved music and making a joyful noise. With a small group called Gospel Wings, he began flying to small remote towns to preach in churches without a pastor. Soon the Ft. Grant, AZ Industrial School for Boys, a state penal institution, was a frequent place for ministry. a time he resigned his job as an air conditioning serviceman to become the chaplain at Ft. Grant. During that time the school became a mens medium security prison. Many boys and adult prisoners experienced new life in Christ as they responded to Earls straightforward message and loving concern. He followed the Lords instruction to love the unlovely and unloving. When he retired in 1984 and returned to the valley, he and his wife settled in Chandler and were active in Mesa Baptist church. Earl worked tirelessly wherever needed-repairing equipment, teaching School, serving as a board member, and so on. Eventually, failing health ended this phase of ministry. Earl leaves behind his beloved wife Pauline, a son Allen and his wife Gail, daughter Carole Dalton and her husband Ray sister Helen Kain and brother Dale Jones, grandchildren Laura Kelley and her husband Thomas, U. S. Army Major Jesse Bell III and his wife Kristine, Nathan Jones; and great-grandchildren Rachel Gibbens and Jackson Kelley; plus many nephews and nieces. By his consistent life he won the friendship and respect of many people who knew him. Like the Apostle Paul, he fought the good fight and finished well.
