Obituary: Mary Veva Ingram mother of Susan and Bill and wife of the late William F. Ingram, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on 18, 2014. Mary Vevas life reflected a competitive spirit, lifelong friends, deep commitment to community and love of family -- with a beautiful smile and splash of mischief. She grew up in North Everett where MV and Bill together raised a family later adding a summer home on Camano Island. In both homes they consistently demonstrated the value of community and friendship, building a legacy of memories for their children and grandchildren. Mary Veva attended Washington Elementary School, Everett High School, The University of Washington, Seattle and Simmons , Boston. The relationships she developed during her years of study remained close throughout her life time. In the past week accounts of her leadership with the Everett Womans Book Club and a couple hilarious stories about late night trumpet playing on the lawn of 1624 Rucker and snow skiing around North Everett have been revealed. Mary Veva was in fact the founder of the History Department of that book club. Additional community involvement included work with the Assistance League, Orthopedic Guild and Twig Shop. She was also closely connected to social and sporting activities with Kappa Kappa Gamma, Everett Golf and Country Club, Everett Racquet Club, Bridge Club, and Jubilee Club. As graceful and stylish as we all remember Mary Veva to have been, she had quite a spicy competitive spirit. She preferred to win. MVs winning ways were evident whether playing golf with her ladies foursome, bridge at home or the Country Club, tennis at the Racquet Club, and even gin rummy with her children and grandchildren. Above all Mary Veva thrived in the company of friends and family especially in social settings. Many will recall beautiful Christmas gatherings at 1624 Rucker and the annual Camano Island Invitational Tennis Tournament. Sue and Bill marvel now on the constant flow of jovial guests at numerous dinner parties in the Everett home and of course on the Camano Island deck always featuring Mary Vevas gourmet recipes and meticulous presentation. Our most fond memory of Mom sees her happily situated on the sunny beach deck with her hat, dark glasses and a good book, admiring Port Susan Bay with Mount Baker in the distance and the beautiful flower garden she annually planted for our familys enjoyment. We would be remiss if we didn finally mention our long line for four legged siblings, Kris, Friedel, Gretel, and her favorite Dachshund of all, Daphne\\rockus! Mary Veva was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Helen Templeton, husband William Franklin Ingram and sister Janet Templeton Stephenson. She is survived by daughter Susan Ingram Mackey and husband Geoffrey, son William Ingram and wife Melissa, grandchildren Connor and Drew Mackey, Sarah and Lee Ingram. The family would like to convey their deep appreciation to the staff of Force, Providence Hospital and Bethany Silver Lake for their care and compassion throughout this journey.
