Obituary: Mary Iglesias 1930 ~ 2014 Mary Iglesias (age 83) of Boise, Idaho, passed away on , 24, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary was born on 2, 1930, in El Sereno, California, to Harry E. Smith and Neva (Mary Jane) Shipman. She was the youngest of five children with four older brothers who adored her and loved to tease her. Marys brothers had a fun loving spirit about them and laughter filled the rooms every time our families would get together. She attended grade school and high school in El Monte, California. graduating from high school, Mary moved to Monterey Park, California, where she worked in retail and then for the IRS. She then transferred to Boise, Idaho, to continue work for the IRS and became a secretary to the district director. She was a very efficient and personable woman who always took great pride in her work. Later in her life, after her kids were in high school and college, Mary returned to the retail business working at Reillys Church Supply, Angletons, and JC Penney. Mary met her husband, Rash, after a day trip to Idaho City and they eventually married in 1960. Their six children kept Mary very busy and family was always important to her. She selflessly put her familys needs before her own. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking and it was not uncommon for her to have piping hot chocolate chip cookies ready for the kids (and their friends) after school. With four daughters, Mary loved to shop. Even as the girls married and had children, we all knew that afternoon was time to be at the mall with mom for shopping and coffee. The grandkids eventually became very fond of coffee (ice cream and treats) with Amuma on afternoons. Her grandchildren were a great source of pride and joy. Mom took great pleasure in family get-togethers and was instrumental in bringing us all together as often as she could. The house would fill with grandkids who loved to visit Amuma and her bottomless dish of M&Ms. She had a green thumb and loved to garden. Even as she began to lose her eyesight, she would plant a colorful and fragrant garden each year. Mary was a religious person and believed strongly in her Catholic faith. She was a regular at the 10:00 mass and rarely missed a . Mary was an active member of St. Johns Cathedral and was a member of the St. Johns Marion Circle which later became St. Johns Womens Society. She spent countless hours helping clean and decorate the cathedral and the rectory. She prepared and served numerous meals for grieving families and was always willing to help out when a priest called her. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rash, her parents, her four brothers, and a son, Bill. She is survived by her children Benita Putzier (Fred), Maria Heffner (Tom), Tina Skinner (Jon), Angie Howard (Scott), and Joe Iglesias (Teresa) and her grandchildren, Joby, Jared, and Josh Iglesias; Zach and Katie Putzier; Kiley, Halle, and Matthew Heffner; Andy, Tim, and Jack Skinner; Maia, Natalia, Isana, and Amelina Howard; and Dominic and Gabi Iglesias. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of Marys caregivers, especially to Linda Trusnovec and Elke Quilter. Thank you also to Cecil Jayo and Bill Baker who always saved a spot for Mom at the 10:00 mass. took great care in helping mom get seated and bringing communion to her pew. A viewing will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on , 30, 2014, at St. Johns Cathedral, 775 N. 8th St. Boise, Id. prior to the rosary service. The rosary service will be held on , 30, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Johns. A funeral mass will be held on , 1, 2014, at St. Johns Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. Burial services will take place at Morris Hill immediately following mass. Memorial contributions in Marys honor can be made to Euzkaldunak-The Basque , The Basque Museum and Cultural , or to Bishop Kelly High School.
