Obituary: Our beloved mother and grandmother, Nina Reboyras Hughes, went to be with her Lord on 6, 2016, at the age of 77, in Bradenton, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded and comforted by her family at the time of her passing. Nina was born to the late Esramo Reboyras and Felictia Velez Reboyras in Utuado, Puerto Rico in 1938. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Rinehart Hughes in 1985, their twin children in 1964, and her brother Elisa Reboyras. Nina moved to Florida as a young woman from Puerto Rico with her husband. She was a homemaker and raised three children until they moved from the Miami, Florida area to Lithia, Florida in 1972, where they ran a small family owned meat market until her husband's death. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Keysville, FL, until she moved to Bradenton and became a member of Community Baptist Church. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her illness. She truly loved the Lord, and enjoyed reading her bible daily. She was an incredibly kind woman with a gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart and enjoyed spending time doing whatever she was asked, whether it was for her family, her friends, or her church. Nina was known as a woman who always wanted to clean. She was continuously washing, sweeping, or dusting somewhere, even if it had previously been done, she was going to redo it her way. As she was doing her duties, she was always humming a tune. Nina enjoyed cooking and to many she was known as the "black beans lady" because she enjoyed preparing Spanish foods for family and friends. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by one son, Jose Alberto Perez of Orlando, Florida; daughters, Joanne Deal Pigg and husband Jacob (Dennis) of Wauchula, Florida and Barbara Casto and husband Steve of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren, Kelley Long of Wauchula, Florida, Richard Deal of Jacksonville, Florida, Randi Heather Vance and husband Dustin of Charleston, West Virginia, Courtney Casto of Bradenton, Florida, Lyndi Casto of Bradenton, Florida, and Jacob Pigg ll and wife Natalie of Mount Jackson, Virginia. She is also the proud great-grandmother to 9 wonderful little ones. She is also survived by one brother, whom she loved dearly, Manuel Reboyras Velez and his wife Donalda of Lithia, Florida. She also has many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on , 10, 2016. A tribute to her memory will follow at 3pm at the Community Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL with Pastor Jesse Nicholson officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at Beulah Baptist Church in Lithia, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Community Baptist Church/School or Tidewell Hospice. Obituary: Morris Rusty Nelson Hughes Jr. passed away 9, 2016 after a long and courageous fight to battle cancer. Rusty was a decorated combat veteran, a diplomat, a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a gentleman. He will be greatly missed. Born in Humboldt, Nebraska on 2, 1945 to Calista Cooper and Morris N. Hughes, Rusty grew up in Cuba, Switzerland, Tunisia, Iceland, and France. Rusty attended the Loomis School in Windsor, CT, graduating in 1963, and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska in 1967 with a degree in Political Science. From 1967 to 1969, he served as a U.S. Marine Corps platoon commander in Vietnam, where he received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and the Navy Commendation Medal, both with Combat V designation. Rusty joined the Department of State in 1970 as a career Foreign Service Officer, like his father before him. He retired with the senior rank of Minister Counselor after a 35 year career. He served as the United States Ambassador to Burundi and the Consul General to St. Petersburg, Russia, as well as diplomatic posts in Cameroon, France, Belgium, the USSR, and Mexico; and as a Diplomat-in-Residence at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rusty spoke French, Russian, and Spanish. Upon semi-retirement in 2005, Rusty worked for the Office of Inspector General inspecting US embassies and consulates in Senegal, Mexico, China, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In 2010 Rusty became captain of his own trawler, the Cooper, and together with his wife spent the next four years cruising and having adventures. completed the Great Loop, cruised to Montreal, to Maine and circumnavigated Lake Superior. He greatly enjoyed skeet and pistol shooting, fishing, and his daily cigar and manhattan. Rusty is survived by his beloved wife, Betty de Jong Hughes; his two children, Guy (Kristen) of Geneva, Switzerland; Cassie (Christina) of Berkeley, California; grandchild Hans Hughes; three step-children, James (Jen), Joanna (Pascal), and Jason (Shayna); five step-grandchildren Ariane, Andre, Emelie, Courtney, Hailey; and his sister, Mary Solari of Rocklin, California. A celebration of Rustys life will take place once arrangements are completed. Interment will be at the Arlington National .
