Obituary: William Edward Holland, age 79, passed away in Jacksonville, Florida on 22, 2017. Bill was born in Buffalo, New York on 22, 1938. He graduated from Riverside High School where he was an all-city basketball player for the Hawks. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1964 and was stationed in South Korea as part of the post-Korean War peacekeeping force. Bill lived many years in Java Lake, NY where he loved fishing and the outdoors of rural Wyoming . He was a longtime fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. He was employed by the Local 7 Boilermakers union. He was a member of the American Legion in Strykersville, N.Y. For many years Bill and Marion wintered in Port St. Lucie, FL where they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, friends and family. He was the husband of the late Marion Holland; son, to the late William and Loretta (Leahy) Holland; and brother of the late Loretta (Pat) Patterson, James (Joan) Holland and John (Shirley) Holland. Survived by brother, Vince (Barbara) Holland of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Nancy Holland-Krystofik, Sandra Bak (Michael) and Kathleen Holland all of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jason Krystofik (Megan), Samira Valdez (Bobby), Krystina Ishak, Devin Ishak, Brendan and Erin Bak and many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Arlene (Michael) Witkowski of Java Lake, NY and the late Nancy (Vlad) Feingold. Visitation will be , 26, 2017 from 3:00 to 3:30 with Services beginning at 3:30 at Chapel Hills , 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225. Obituary: William Joseph Holland died at his home on 19, 2015. He was 89 years old. He was predeceased by his wife Joan (nee O'Brien) Holland who passed away in 2013. Mr. Holland was retired from the New York Stock Exchange where he worked for 45 years. Bill and Joan moved from Jericho, Long Island, New York to Homosassa in 1989. were active members of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa, where he and Joan were members of the choir. Mr. Holland was born May 2, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, second son of John and Anne (nee Gaffney) Holland. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Europe in the 70th Infantry Division of the United States Army. Mr. Holland was the recipient of the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. Mr. Holland was also an artist whose works were displayed locally. He was also predeceased by his brother John E. Holland of Mountainside, New Jersey and is survived by his brother James J. Holland of Morristown, New Jersey as well as six nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Wed., 26, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder , Homosassa, Florida.
