Obituary: Beloved wife and mother, Theresa Margaret (Frigo) Holland, passed away 3, 2016. Daughter of two hard working Italian immigrants, she was born and raised in New York, and was fluent in both English and Italian. In 1951, this young Italian beauty, married her handsome AF Lieutenant, Hal, and explored Asia during his early assignments. In Japan, Theresa and Hal had two sons, Mark C. and John D. As a devoted wife, loving mother, and homemaker, she nurtured her family through accompanied military tours in Okinawa and Taiwan, finally arriving at Eglin AFB/Fort Walton Beach (FWB), FL in 1965, whereupon her sons proclaimed paradise found due to the Gulf fishing and beaches. Theresa held her family together in FWB, guiding her young sons during her husbands wartime tours in Thailand/Vietnam circa 1969. She taught her son John to cook Italian lasagna and cheesecake, inspired his becoming an engineer, retiring after 31 years of AF Civil Service. Theresa was a Roman Catholic, a longtime member and supporter of St Mary‘s parish and many other charities. She managed the family income tax preparation business for many years. She was an avid bridge player, taught Catholic School, was active in the OSIA Lodge 2422 having been a past president, and later taught Beginning Italian at the UWF for Lifelong Learning. She also enjoyed bowling, especially her team members comradery. Over the years she raised four boxers from puppies, and cared for many other family dogs and her two rescue cats. Theresas proud parents, Giuseppe and Margaret (Rossi) Frigo, three siblings, Dominick and Robert Frigo, and Madeline M. Monaco, and son Mark C. Holland all preceded her passing. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Hal Holland (Maj USAF Ret), son John Holland, and niece Madeline J. Monaco, all of FWB, FL; granddaughter Heather Holland and great granddaughter Riley Marie Holland of Dothan, AL; granddaughter Lauren Holland-Hernandez and husband Jesse Hernandez, and great granddaughters Brianna Hernandez and Christiana Holland, and great grandsons Brandon Standridge, Kendell Hernandez, and Mark J. Holland all of Gordon, AL; numerous relatives in New York, Texas, California, and Nebraska, and her beloved rescue cat, Citrus. A time of visitation will be held from 09:30 to 10:30 am , Feb. 9 at St. Mary R.C. Church, 110 St. Mary Ave., FWB, FL with a memorial Mass immediately following. A graveside ceremony will be held at Barrancas National , NAS Pensacola, at 2 pm, Wed., Feb. 10. The Emerald Coast (ECFH), 161 Racetrack R NW, FWB, FL. www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com is providing funeral services, thus flowers may be sent to the ECFH, or donations in lieu thereof made to the Parish Life Fund at St. Marys R.C.
