Obituary: Lester G. Harrison passed away peacefully on , 11, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born on Tilghman Island on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and spent his early years fishing and crabbing the Chesapeake Bay with his cousins, uncles and father. His family moved to Baltimore when he was a teen and eventually settled in Benedict, Maryland. He joined the Navy and was able to continue his great love of the water as a deep sea diver. his honorable discharge, he went on to study electronics thus beginning a 30 year career as an electrical technician with the U.S. Government. During his career with the government, he worked on projects that would take him all over the United States and its territories, as well Europe, Asia, Australia and several remote islands. Les met the love of his life, Frances, and together they raised a family in Hughesville, Maryland and later moving to Charleston, South Carolina. Toward their later years they moved to Jacksonville to be closer to their daughter and her family. Les was a loving and supportive "Grandaddy" to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed but find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved Frances; his son Lester Jr.; his brother, John; and his parents, Nora and Hobart Harrison. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Sweeney (David); his sister, Shirley Rollins (Donald); his sister-in-law, Phyllis Harrison; his grandchildren, Lester G. Harrison III, Jack Harrison Sweeney and Kaleigh Marie Harrison. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 on 18, 2015 at The Oaklawn Chapel followed by a graveside service with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family. |

Obituary: Kathryn Boykin Harrison, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on 26, in Tallahassee. She was born 20, 1925, to Annie Phillips Boykin and William Sterling Boykin, in Edgefield, South Carolina. When she was a young child, her family moved to LaGrange, Georgia, where she grew up. graduating from high school at the age of 15, she attended Berry . Although she was unable to return for her final semester, she was an excellent student, majoring in chemistry. In the early 1940s, Kathryn moved to Tallahassee. She worked as a dental assistant to Dr. John Simpson until she married James Monroe Harrison in 1950. During her 58-year marriage, Kathryn worked as a full time mother and homemaker. She was very involved in her childrens school and other activities. She was also active in the Girls Auxiliary and taught school, first at Immanuel Baptist Church and later at East Hill Baptist Church. Although most of her adult life was devoted to raising her children, running the household, and supporting her beloved husband, she did find time to indulge her passion for reading. She also became an avid golfer, with her husband being her favorite partner. Kathryn is survived by daughters Jan Lear of Thomasville, Georgia and Lucy Harris (Fred) of Quincy; sons George H. Harrison, III (Joni) of Tallahassee; and James M. Harrison, Jr., of Tallahassee; brothers Allen Boykin of Tallahassee and Charles Boykin of Chesapeake, Virginia. She has seven grandchildren: Catherine Blair (Brian); Holle Roberts (Matt); Riley Harris; Katie Harris; Jamie Harrison; James "Trey" Harrison; and Payne Cook. She also has two great-grandchildren, Wilson and Ellie Blair. Kathryn was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter Catherine Monroe Harrison, and four of her siblings, William Boykin, James Boykin, Tommy Boykin and Ann Thornton. Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm , 1st, at Culleys Meadow Wood , 1737 Riggins Road. Graveside service will be held 11 am , 2nd, at Roselawn .
