Obituary: Mary Stewart Gloyd Hutchinson died May 2, 2017 Born 24, 1927 to Frank Stewart Gloyd and Evadna Vesta Gove Gloyd in Seattle, WA. Marys first seven years were spent in the Seattle area. The family moved to Oakland, CA in 1935 and spent three years there while the ridges were being built. The family returned to their home in the north end of Seattle in 1938. Mary was a graduate of Roosevelt High School (1945) and Whitman in Walla Walla, WA (1949), a political science major. Marys first job after graduation from high school was with the War Shipping Administration. V-J Day (the end of World War II) came during a working day, and most of those working in downtown Seattle had quite an interesting time getting home from work that day because of all the celebrating. During her college years, the summers were spent taking secretarial courses, and all of her jobs were clerical or secretarial in nature. During her employment with the Boeing from 1986 to 1995, she became a Certified Professional Secretary, and, after retiring, completed her Paralegal Certificate as an insurance policy In 1957, both Herbert (Bert) Bruce Hutchinsons and Marys spouses died. Bert and Mary met the following , he with two girls, aged one and three, and she with two boys, aged six and eight. A marriage made in Heaven said Mother Gloyd. Marys recreational diversion through the years was golf, from the time she was a teenager until her death. Surviving are her children James Stewart Hutchinson and wife, Irene; David Lee Hutchinson and wife, Robyn; Susan Marie Lamoree and husband, Guy; and Cynthia Diane Hutchinson and husband, Patrick Iverson, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; Brother Dr. Park Gloyd and wife, Shirley; and sister Barbara Gloyd Smith and husband, Packard Phillips. The Burial Office with Holy Eucharist, Rite One will be held on May 5, 2017 at 2PM at St. Aidans Episcopal Church, 1318 East SR 532, Camano Island, WA 98282 followed by internment at Acacia Memorial Park, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, WA 98155 Memorials may be made to St. Aidans Episcopal Church, PO Box 145, Stanwood, WA 98292 or to a charity of your choice. are under the care of Gilbertson in Stanwood, WA. Obituary: Mary Rose Hutchinson, 87, of Orting passed away on 7, 2017. She was born in Wenatchee, WA, on 4, 1929, to the late Chris and Irma Smith. She graduated in 1948 from Coulee Dam High School in Coulee Dam, WA. She married the late Stephen Hutchinson on 6, 1948. Together, Mary and Steve moved from Omak, WA to Orting. During her 61 years as a resident of Orting, Mary worked at Copes Pharmacy and as a devoted homemaker. Mary lived in Orting until 2010, when she sold her house and moved to assisted living in Puyallup. For six and a half years, Mary called Meridian Hills her home. Her health declined in 2016, forcing her to move to Warner House, an adult family home in Tacoma, where she would spend the last months of her life. Mary is survived by her sister, Joanne Butts of Orting, WA; two children; Dennis Pat Hutchinson and his wife Peggy of Austin, TX; and Michael Hutchinson and his wife Sandy of Federal Way, WA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Carol, Joy, Steven and Shawn. She is preceded in death by her husband Stephen, and her son, also named Stephen. The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. on , 13 at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church in Orting, WA. Burial will take place at Orting on 14. |
