Obituary: Kathryn Marie Hambelton was born on 17th, 1925 to parents Martin and Betty Colahan in Plainview, Kansas. She attended Sandy High School, graduating with the class of 1942. Kathryn married Samuel Lyons, who passed away serving our country in WWII in the Navy when his ship went down. She then went on to marry Alwin Newsom in 1948, who passed away on Jan 1st, 1957. Kathryn was best remembered as being an exceptional homemaker and mother who kept a spotless home and cooked amazing food for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning foods, watching sports; she was a huge fan of the Trailblazers. Kathryn loved animals and was always there to help an animal in need. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold Hambelton, brothers, Duane and Jim Colahan, and son, Sam Lyons. Kathryn is survived by four children, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by friends and family alike. There will be a graveside service in honor of her memory on , 18th, 2013 at 2pm at Lincoln Memorial , 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland OR 97086. |

Obituary: YAKIMA - Harold F. Hambelton, born to William and Myra Hambelton on 16, 1922, passed away due to cancer on 1, 2012. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew him. Harold graduated from Tieton High School in 1941 and resided in Tieton on the family orchard his entire 89 years, other than when he served his country during World War II as a B-17 waist gunner. During his military service, as Tech Sergeant, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and Presidential Unit Citation awards. Harold attended WSU, graduating with honors and a Horticulture degree in 1949. graduation he returned to the family orchard, and raised apples and pears with his father. As a child he participated in sports, built thousands of wooden apple boxes, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Harold and his wife Pat were married in 1945 and celebrated 66 years of marriage last . Harold is survived by his wife Pat, two children Mike (Kathy) and David (Marilyn); four grandchildren Jeff (Kelly), Mark (Wendy), Teresa, and Alan (Helen); four great-grandchildren Toby, Ashlyn, Parker and Hazel; sister Marjorie Banko (Santa Clara, WA), brother William Hambelton (Yakima, WA), and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his loving grandson, Scott Hambelton. Harolds life can best be described by his love of family, Tieton, and raising apples. He truly enjoyed the family home that "has a view out every window." Some of his favorite times were when the entire family was together for holidays, special events, and vacations. Active members in the Yakima Valley Boat Club for 50 years, Harold and Pat enjoyed many wonderful water times with boating friends. Harold had many friends from various stages in his life: lifelong community friends, neighbors, colleagues, employees, teaching and serving on the FCS Board of Directors for 12 years. Harold was an active member of his community and was honored to serve as Grand Marshall for the Tieton Community Days parade a few years ago. His love of Scouting and pride of being an Eagle Scout have shown through his generosity over the years. The family cannot adequately express their thankfulness to caregivers Judy, Josie, Lisa, Tina; Orchard Park Retirement team, as well as the Hospice organization, which made the last five months of Harolds life as pleasant as possible. Graveside service at West Hills Memorial Park will be at 11:00 am, 5, 2012. Memorials in Harolds honor can be made to the WSU Scott B.
