Obituary: Andrew Anthony Holmes, 68, of Hustle died , May 10, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital. Andrew was born and raised in Hustle, Virginia in Essex . He was the son of the late Herbert and Estelle Holmes. He joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Holmes and Gladys Berry and one brother Herbert Holmes. He worked for many years in construction and was a member of the Laborers Trust Union. Andrew was a hard worker and took care of his family. He loved his wife and three kids. He ensured his wife and kids had everything they needed. He taught his children many life lessons. He was a quiet man who stayed to himself. He loved to throw horseshoes and enjoyed throwing opponents off their game. He was loved and liked by so many people. He will be missed by everyone, but we know that he is in a better place now with is Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Holmes of Hustle, Virginia; one son, Andrew Mark Holmes of Richmond, Virginia; two daughters Felicia Holmes of Tappahannock, Virginia and Kristy Holmes of Locust Grove, Virginia; two grandsons Paris Pollard of Tappahannock, Virginia and Tyron Holmes of Farnham, Virginia.; one great-grandson Amir Pollard of Tappahannock, Virginia.; two sisters Antoinette Holmes of Hustle, Virginia and Susie Lewis of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three brothers Charles Holmes (Vernell) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Norman Holmes of Hustle, Virginia and Nathan Holmes of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and one special friend Thomas Pollard III. |

Obituary: Lee Ohlbaum Holmberg, 85, beloved wife of Captain Lennart G. Holmberg, USN (Ret.), passed away in her home on May 31, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Her daughter Susan Lee Holmberg, PhD, preceded her in death. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Dorothea and Clarence Ohlbaum, MD, she attended the Berkeley Carroll School. Lee was a graduate of Wheaton , Norton, MA, with a degree in music. She was an accomplished pianist and choral soloist. Lee was the quintessential Navy wife, making beautiful homes in Monterey, CA; Millis, MA; Newport, RI; and McLean, VA. A dedicated supporter of her husband's career, she held many roles from stay-at-home mother to assuming legal administrative duties. Her volunteer affiliations included: Womens's Club of Newport, RI; Women's Club of McLean, VA; Navy Relief Society; Daughters of the American Revolution; American Legion Auxiliary; and lifetime member and soloist in various choirs. She and her husband lived in McLean, VA, for over 45 years and, following his retirement more recently, in The Ashby Ponds Community in Ashburn, VA. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, McLean, VA, at a later date with interment at Arlington National . |
