Obituary: William Ellsworth Hixenbaugh (age 93) Of Burke, VA passed away peacefully 24, 2015. Born in Frostburg, MD 28, 1922 he was a decorated Army Air Corps. Sgt. in the 25th Bomb Squadron in WWII who later worked as an accountant. He was a low handicap golfer who was proud to have had 2 documented holes in one. He was a devoted life long member of the Elks Lodge #2188 in Fairfax, as a charter member and held many leadership positions. He is survived by his wife Martha Hixenbaugh, daughter Shirley Walker, sister Helen Hull, brother Harry Hixenbaugh, 2 step sons, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ethel Hixenbaugh and daughter Billie Alderman. A Memorial Service will be held on 13, 2016 at 1 pm St. Georges United Methodist Church, 4910 Ox Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030 followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge at 2:30-4:30 pm, 8421 Arlington Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22031 a private interment will be held at a later date in Arlington columbarium. Obituary: Kathleen Hardy Hix, age 76 of Fairfax, died on 21, 2015. Mrs. Hix grew up in Leesburg, VA, one of seven siblings - each an important part of her life. It was in Leesburg that she met and married her husband in 1960. In the early years they lived in several locations throughout Virginia, before settling in the city of Fairfax where they raised their 2 sons Keith, Doug, and daughter JoJean. She cherished her time with her family and was especially devoted to her nine grandchildren and one great grandson. One of her favorite pastimes was weekly Bingo at a local fire department where she made many lasting friendships. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, she lived her life as she always had- caring for her family, enjoying time with her friends and neighbors, and sharing each day with her loving husband of fifty-five years. She is survived by her husband, Joseph T. Hix, son Bryant K. Hix, daughter in law Elizabeth Hix, grandchildren Bryant and Sarah Hix of Farifax ; son Thomas D. Hix, daughter in law Deborah W. Hix, granddaughters Danielle, Samantha, Madilyn, and grandson Jacob Hix of Fredericksburg ; daughter JoJean Hix, grandsons Garrett and Hayden Giles of Clifton, granddaughter Courtney Zinzi Baghdassarian, grandson in law Phillip Baghdassarian, great grandson Mason Baghdassarian of Gainesville, and sister Brenda Touvell and brother in law David Touvell of Winchester. A memorial service will be held on 30, 2015 at 2 PM at Demaine Fairfax, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax. Interment to take place at Fairfax City immediately following the service. Obituary: JOHN “JACK” HITZELBERG John “Jack” F. Hitzelberg, age 92, died on , 28th at his home in Gainesville, VA. Born in New York, he resided in Fairfax, Virginia for over 50 years. He served in the U. S. Navy as a pilot in World War II. earning an engineering degree from Perdue University, he began his career as an analytical engineer. Upon retirement from his engineering career as a Defense Department contractor, he enjoyed traveling with his wife of 61 years, Maryann, who predeceased him in 2007. He is survived by his four children, John (Sharon) Hitzelberg of Charleston, SC, Richard (Kathy) Hitzelberg of Sumerduck, VA, Steven (Robin) Hitzelberg of Herndon, VA, and Jill (Jim) Conklin of Fairfax, VA; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, William Hitzelberg of Reno, NV. A memorial service will be held on , 3rd at the Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax, VA, where he was a member. Obituary: Virginia Alberta Aleshire Hitt, 96, of Shenandoah, passed away on , 11, 2015 at MontVue where she had lived for the last two years. She was born in Luray on 26, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Luther and Zora Belle Stoneberger Aleshire. Virginia lived the majority of her life in the Page area. She attended Page schools and she retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken in Luray. She was a very active member of the Church of the Valley and enjoyed working with the ladies fellowship and volunteering at the Luray Senior . She also enjoyed making quilts and crocheting. On 6, 1935 she married Coe W. Hitt, Sr., who preceded her in death on 13, 1998. She was also preceded in death by sons, Billy Mark, Jimmy, Ronald and John Hitt; and a daughter, Peggy Ann Knight. She is survived by her children, Janie Stewart of Stanley, Katie Good of Luray, Coe W. Hitt, Jr. of Elkton, Jerry and David Hitt of Shenandoah; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-7:00 pm, this ( ) evening at Church of the Valley in Shenandoah. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, , 15, 2015, at the church with Pastor Alfred C. Comer, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Christian Church .
