Obituary: John Bernhard Harris 25, 1928 – Nov 1, 2012 John was born to John and Jennie Harris in Los Angeles, California, where he lived until he was called to serve a mission in Norway, in 1948. In of 1951, John was married and sealed to his wife, Sonia Sorensen, in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. During their 61 joyful years together, they had 5 beautiful children. John was drafted into the Army where he served as a Chaplains Aid in Germany during the Korean War. When he returned, he started college at BYU where he earned his Bachelors, then Masters. which, they moved to Detroit, Michigan where he completed his PHD in English. He was then asked to return to BYU to teach. At BYU, he assisted the Dean for a couple of years, then, started teaching. Later he became Chairman of the English Department. John has served in many positions for the LDS Church and has touched the lives of all that he has come across. John has now joined his parents, his brother, Ross Harris, his daughter, Randi Harris Lytle, and granddaughter, Melissa Harris. He is survived by his wife Sonia, his brother, Donald Harris, his children, john Harris, Cecily Stott, Ashley Harris, Margaret Keener, 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. He will be missed dearly, both by his family and many friends. The funeral will be held for John on , 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Suncrest 2nd Ward LDS Chapel located at 140 North 400 West, Orem, Utah . A viewing will be held , . 6, 2012 from 6-8 pm at the Walker-Sanderson located at 646 East 800 North, Orem, and also at the church prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the BYU English Department for scholarships. Obituary: Jessica Laren Harris, 17, of Lindon, died peacefully early , 08, 2010 at Timpanogos Regional Hospital, cradled in her mother’s arms and surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born 9, 1992 in Provo to Brent Richard Harris and Lisa Marie Harmon Harris. She was raised in American Fork and Lindon, and was currently a high school senior preparing to graduate early, and pursuing her dream of becoming a neonatal nurse. She had just completed her CNA training, acing her final test. She had been employed at Bel-Aire Senior Living , where she shared compassion, friendship, and service to the elderly residents with whom she loved with her whole soul. She was happiest when she was serving others, and had many cherished and spiritual experiences with these elderly friends. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a testimony of her Savior and His atonement. Jessica was blessed with great beauty, a quick-wit and sense of humor, a superior intellect, an honest personality, and an enormous heart filled with compassion for others, especially the elderly, the disabled, children, and animals. She loved the learning and reading, and treasured her experiences in the outdoors, hiking, biking, rock climbing, repelling, spelunking in caves, and sleeping under the stars. She loved listening to music, playing guitar, and pampering herself to a relaxing bath or a well deserved nap. Most importantly, she loved her family, her friends, and her beloved Pomeranian dogs. In her short life, Jessica gave her share of “five loaves of bread and two small fishes” (John 6:9) that have been magnified and multiplied, through her Savior, to bless and fill a multitude of lives, and in her passing, Jessica now blesses the lives of many families through the donation of her organs and tissues. We are all deeply saddened and will miss her, but our hearts are comforted in the truth the resurrection, the blessings of the temple, and the peace that her eternal Spirit is now embraced and surrounded by loved ones in Paradise, where she is experiencing a state of never-ending happiness, rest, and peace, and where she is resting from all trouble, all care, and sorrow. Survivors include her parents: Brent (Elizabeth Smith) Harris (Bountiful), and Lisa Harris (Lindon), sisters: Hailey and Madison, brother: Chandler, and step-brothers: Harrison, Christian, Nathanial, and Winston Jones, grandparents: Gaylen Harmon (Pleasant Grove), Leland & Katie Harris (Orem), Craig & Tami Smith (Bountiful), many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her very close friend, Joel Hovey (Orem). Obituary: JANICE EXETER TWITCHELL HARRIS Nana Jan Our sweet mother passed away on 26, 2017. She was born 30, 1928 to Milton and Millie Exeter Twitchell in the high mountain valley of Escalante, Utah. In 1941, her family moved to Salt Lake City where she attended East High School and later graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in Education. She taught 4th, 5th and 6th grades at Liberty Elementary. She met Russell Clyde Harris, an attorney and a Major in the US Air Force, and they were married on 21, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Janice was an excellent secretary and exemplified honesty and integrity in her work. Through the years she worked at the Utah State Historical Society, the University of Utah Neurology and Pharmacology Departments, the LDS Visitors and retired after 20 years as the Executive Secretary to the Director of the LDS Utah-Salt Lake Area Seminaries and Institutes. Janice cherished her membership in the LDS church and her opportunity to serve others. She served as President and on the Stake Boards of the LDS Church Relief Society and YWMIA organizations. She was active in PTA leadership and volunteered for nine years as one of the first Beehive House hostesses. Mom dearly loved her husband, her five children and their descendants. Her gentle and artistic nature was evident to all. She often invited her loved ones to look and see the lovely cloud formations or the magnificent shadings of a landscape or sunset. Reading was one of Moms great joys; she especially loved learning of other eras and the contributions of her ancestors to a developing nation and a blossoming LDS church. Janice is survived by her children Stephanie (Michael A.) Lund, Leslie (Charles J.) Boulton, Mark R. (Jeanette) Harris, Melinda (David C.) Pitcher, and Valerie Harris, 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Millie, her husband, Russell, and her brothers, Blaine and Sherwood Twitchell. services will be held on , 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Davis Creek 2nd Ward, 1395 South 200 East, Farmington, UT 84025. Friends may call evening from 6:00-7:30 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 and morning from 9:45 to 10:45 am at Davis Creek 2nd Ward.
