Obituary: Carol Cummings Harding 1927 ~ 2011 Carol Cummings Harding, a unique, strong woman of courage, humor and devotion, passed away suddenly but peacefully at her son’s home in Salt Lake City, Utah, , 12, 2011. She was born in Heber City, Utah on Feb. 23, 1927 to Orville S. Cummings and Minnie Evans, the first of four daughters. A child of the depression, and like many of that time, Carol possessed a strong character developed out of necessity. She had a happy childhood created from the rich relationships with her family and friends. She graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City, and attended BYU where she met Lloynel Harding shortly after his return from serving in World War II. were married in Salt Lake City, Utah on 26, 1947. Carol and Lloynel established their home in Orem, Utah where they lived together for 61 years until Lloynel’s death in 2008. were partners in everything and enjoyed life in each other’s company, playing cards together and with friends, traveling Utah and the West with their three kids, Suzanne, Richard and Paul; boating at Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge, doting on the family dogs, and attending 779th EPD Army Reunions around the country. Carol enjoyed being involved socially whether it was attending bridge clubs with friends in earlier years or leading her husband’s heart rehab group in morning exercises in later years. During her life she was active in the PTA and the Republican Party, she was a primary teacher and a Cub Scout Den Mother. When her children were older she worked part time for relative-owned businesses, Allred Orchards and Booth’s Distributors, as much for the social aspect as to earn extra income for her family. Lloynel’s retirement from Geneva Steel they enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer. With other “snowbird†friends they liked attending the annual ‘49rs Encampments held each in Death Valley. Carol’s hallmark trait was a determination to attend to the needs of her family and have fun doing it. She enjoyed cooking for her family and especially baking. She had a gift for making bread, cookies and especially pies. She was a devoted spouse, side by side with Lloynel during good times and at his side as his primary-care giver during a decade of declining health. Not only did she attend to the needs and happiness of her three children but also to that of two grandsons, Cody and Brock, and to two great grandsons, Ti and Apollo who brought “GiGi†great joy in her eighties. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters Connie Case and infant sister Margaret. She is survived by daughter Suzanne Harding McMullin; son Richard (Lyle; her son Phillip Pecoraro wife Tiffany, daughters Sophie and Berkly; son Patrick Pecoraro wife Megan); son Paul Harding and his partner Brett Vuksinick; grandson Cody C. McMullin; grandson Brock C. McMullin (Jennifer); great grandsons Titan Brock McMullen and Apollo Lee McMullin; sister Lois Higgs of Heber, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Dodds and the Nuero Specialty Rehabilitation Staff at Intermountain Medical for their professional and compassionate care provided to Carol following a mild stroke she suffered in early . A special thanks to Lance Willingham who she complained didn’t take it easy on her but it was clear she was appreciative of his kindness and concern. Obituary: Amanda Jayne Hardin 1957-2012. Devoted to her family and her God, Amanda Jayne Hardin (55) passed away on 22, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on May 28, 1957 to Norman William Henry Dyke and Barbara Mary White Dyke in Salt Lake City Utah. She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and the University of Utah thereafter. returning home from an LDS mission to Geneva Switzerland in 1984, she married her sweetheart Perry James Hardin in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on 25, 1986. Amanda will always be remembered for her friendship and service to people around her. It mattered little whether they were people of long acquaintance or strangers on the street -- her kind heart was open to everyone. Although she served faithfully in many LDS church callings, this kindness to all people was the greatest expression of her devotion to God and active faith in a Christian life. A wonderful mother, Amanda has blessed the life of four children who survive her. She is also survived by her father Norman Dyke, her aunt Marjorie Dyke, her brother John Dyke, and her husband. She is preceded in death by her sister Lynwood Mary Dyke, her brother Robert Dyke, and her mother. |
