Obituary: Mrs. Ocie Hopkins, loving daughter of David and Willie Mae Palmer, was born on 30, 1940 in Gulfport, Mississippi. She grew up and attended public schools in California, and later married and had three children. She married Oliver Walker, and had her daughter. Later she married Leroy Hopkins, Sr., had two sons and moved the family to San Jose, California. Her children remember her as a mother who encouraged and supported them in pursuit of their goals. She is also remembered as a generous and dedicated soul who loved beautiful things, and was especially passionate about gardening, cooking, power walks, politics, news, finance, music and family. She worked in manufacturing within the Silicon Valley for a variety of companies, starting her career at Lockheed. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Gwendolyn Roe, of Sacramento, CA; and sons, Leroy Hopkins, Jr., of San Jose, CA; and Akil Wemusa, of Gilroy, CA. In addition to her children she leaves four loving grandchildren, Latricia and Bryant Roe, Phaedra Hopkins and Laila Wemusa. She is also survived by two sisters, Jearleen Holly of Pelahatchie, MS; Marietta Sherrod of Sacramento, CA, and two brothers, Willie Breland of Fort Worth, TX; Wesley Jimerson, III., of Cameron Park, CA, as well as many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, David Palmer; mother, Willie Mae Jimerson; step-father, Wesley Jimerson, Sr.; and two brothers, Albert Bolden and David Palmer, Jr.The angels peacefully led Ocie to Gods throne on a beautiful summer morning - , 6. She was 75 years old. Most s you would have seen her at her home church, Emmanuel Baptist Church in San Jose, where she dedicated her life to the Lord. For many years she sang in the choir and participated in fellowship. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. A memorial service is scheduled for , 19th at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 10:30AM. A repast will follow at the Church. Contributions in Ocies memory may be made to Alzheimers Association. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, support, and loving acts of kindness during this time of time.
