Obituary: Betty Jean Hoover, 85, of Fontana, California, went home to be with the Lord on , 3, 2014 around 2:30 a.m. She passed away after a prolonged battle against Leukemia. Betty was born on 12, 1929 in Riverside, California, as the youngest of six children, to Edgar and Ina Byrum, natives of Oklahoma and Arkansas, respectively. On 13, 1947, she married the love of her life, Mr. Harry Wilson Hoover, whom she had met on a blind date. The couple lived in Riverside, Bloomington, and Fontana, and they were married for 54 years until Harrys home-going in 2002. During the years, as a dedicated homemaker, Betty was a devoted wife to her husband, a loving mother to her two daughters, and a beloved grandmother to four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. As a girl, Betty credits her parents with teaching her about God and His love for her. But it wasn until one day as a young mother that she recognized her need to trust the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. During their married years, the Hoover family attended First Assembly of God in Bloomington. Later in life, Betty made Calvary Baptist Church, in Fontana, her church home. In 2007, Betty was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and given little chance of survival. She endured several extended hospital stays over a five-month period in which she received many weeks of chemotherapy. Her maintenance routine for the last seven years included a one-week round of daily out-patient chemotherapy every five weeks, as well as weekly visits to the lab for a shot to boost her red-blood cell count. By all accounts from her doctors and medical staff, Betty was a true walking miracle. She was grateful to the many dedicated medical professionals who treated her over the years, yet she would always give credit to the Lord for sustaining her life. She is survived and will be greatly missed by daughters: Barbara (Bill) Livingston, of Fontana, and Janie (Gary) Whitney, of Desert Hot Springs; grandchildren: Jamie (Michael) Byron, of Lakewood; Jennifer Hunt, of Long Beach; Harmony Perdue and Ian Whitney, both of Desert Hot Springs; and great-grandchildren: James, Makayla, Jacob, and Jace Byron; and Braden, Liv, and Rylan Perdue. Betty Hoover will be remembered as very loving, caring, thoughtful, and giving. She always signed her correspondence with the words, Love and Prayers, and she truly meant it. She loved\she prayed\ and her family is forever grateful. Visitation will be held in the Chapel at Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary, in Bloomington, on , 12, from 4:00 \ 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, in Fontana, on , 13, at 10:30 a.m. Reception immediately following in the Churchs Fellowship Hall. Interment at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres. |
