Obituary: 1936 - 2010 Carol Ann Hensley - A Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Colleague and Hero. With grace and dignity mom lived her life with passion and love for her family and many friends. Her personality was contagious. How do you even begin to sum up the life of an amazing woman who touched so many people! Carol passed away in the comfort of her home with family by her side on 3, 2010. Just 52 years and two days after marrying the love of her life Billy Floyde in Reno, Nevada. Carol was born in San Francisco, California on 29, 1936. She was the oldest daughter of five sisters and two half brothers of immigrant parents, Lilie and Jens Hov (Jacobsen). She was very proud of her Scandinavian heritage. Carol was active in her community; a member of Jobs Daughters while attending Richmond High School ultimately serving as valedictorian for her class of 1955. She was the loyal and loving wife of Billy Hensley, devoted mother of Vicki Satrap and Kenneth Hensley, beloved sister of Sandra Sanchez, Doreen (Bob) Allen, Ingrid Roberts, Diane Silva, Donald and Loren Hov, doting grandmother of Nicholas and Scott Waterworth, Kristi and Nicole Hensley, Jordan Satrap and recent great-grandmother of Eric Shaw. Our hero, Carol fought a brave and vigilant battle against lung cancer. She is remembered by her passion for life and love for her family and many friends. She was a veracious reader and well versed on multiple topics. Her love of history and politics was the subset of many conversations. Carol was the consummate professional and flourished in a long and lustrous career serving in many secretarial, executive assistant and managerial positions. Her career began in 1957 as a secretary at Beckman Instruments/Computer Operations division in Richmond, Ca. While she had many superior technical skills her proficiency in shorthand, a "lost art", was admired at a speed of 175 wpm. She earned the respect of her colleagues and superiors because of her ability to communicate on many levels. It seemed only natural that she would ultimately manage the personnel departments of companies including Zeltex, Inc./Silicon General, Inc. and Ott Water Engineers. moving 33 years ago with her husband, Billy, to Lakehead, CA, she continued her second career in Redding at Ott Water Engineers, KRCR Channel 7 TV and ultimately the City of Redding in the Planning and Community Development department just prior to her retirement on 4, 2000. She will be deeply missed by all. Family and friends are invited to a gathering in celebration of Carols life on , 10, 2010, at 12 Noon, Lawncrest Chapel, 1522 E. Cypress Ave., Redding, Ca. Carol will be placed to rest at Northern California Veterans , Igo, California. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the American Cancer Society by following Carols story on www.cancer.org/mosaic.com. |
