Obituary: Mary Dever Downie Holzschuher, age 84, passed away on 3, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. Mary was born in Memphis, Tennessee on 10, 1922. She spent her early years in Shaw, Mississippi, then moved to San Antonio to live with her aunt, Mrs. William T. Campbell. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended Incarnate Word . Mary married Edward R. Downie, of San Antonio, in 1942, and lived in California, Texas and Utah, returning to San Antonio after EdÂs death in 1944. She moved to New York City in 1957, where she married Carl Holzschuher, Jr., a native San Antonian. Carl died in 1964, and Mary returned to San Antonio in 1972. She was active in the Garden Club, Battle of Flowers and many projects with the First Presbyterian Church. In her later years, she traveled widely, including tours of the U.S., Canada, and South America, and spent a year living and traveling in Europe. Throughout her life Mary was known for her marvelous cooking and entertaining, her adventurous spirit, her deep faith and her devotion to friends and family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Downie, and her second husband, Carl Holzschuher, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Louisa Holzschuher; son, Tom Holzschuher and wife Kathi; and grandchildren, Julia and Clayton Holzschuher. |

Obituary: CLARENCE PHILLIP HOLZMANN 27, 1916 \ 19, 2015 Clarence Phillip Holzmann, 98, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away , Feb. 19, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas. A descendent of early New Braunfels settlers, Clarence was the second son of Wilhelm Ludwig Holzmann and his wife, Clara Bose Holzmann, who died the day after his birth. He was raised by his father and step-mother, Hedwig Behrendt Rauch Holzmann. On 27, 1939, he married the love of his life and favorite waltz partner, Elva Serold of Bulverde. shared 69 years before her death in 2008. Clarence attended Solms School in Comal and was a talented clarinetist and saxophonist, performing in his teens with a New Braunfels symphonic band and later with several dance bands popular in the German-American community. He retired as a shift engineer with the LCRA power plant, was an active member of First Protestant Church, New Braunfels, and volunteered with the SOS Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and Optimist Club. An avid reader, he also enjoyed hunting, traveling, and attending dances, including those sponsored by the Starlite Ballroom Dance Club and the Goodtime Polka Waltz Club. He was preceded in death by his wife; his brother and sister-in-law, Chrismor and Linda Scheel Holzmann, and step-sister Nora Altwein Wittenborn. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law Eva Claire (Robert) Riggs of Fort Worth and Doris (Norris) Riley of Katy; four grandchildren Karen (John) Winkelman of Little Rock, AR; Kevin (Mary) Riggs of Victoria, TX; Sean (Amy) Riley of Katy, TX; and Julie Riley, Katy, TX; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Robert Jackson for Better Living, San Antonio, and to Clarences neighbors, George and Felisitas Rodriguez, for their care and compassion and to his extended family and First Protestant members for lifelong love and friendship. Obituary: Catherine Aniol Holzmann, age 81, passed into the arms of our loving Savior after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family on 27, 2014. Catherine was born 25, 1932 in Bexar , Texas. She was in the 2nd graduating class of East Central High School as well as graduating from Durham Business School. Catherine worked in mortgage loan of several savings institutions. She was a founding member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic minister and an active member of the Womens Guild. She was a member of Hollywood Park Rock and Oaks Garden Club and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Keith Thomas Holzmann, and her parents, Fred and Emelia Aniol. She is survived by Frank D. Holzmann her husband of 53 years; daughters, Joan Holzmann and Karen Huggins and husband, Thomas; son, Frank P. Holzmann and wife, Suzanne; grandchildren, Natalie Huggins, Marshall Huggins, Nicholas Holzmann, Jacob Holzmann, Lucas Holzmann and Kaitlyn Holzmann; brothers, Emil Aniol and Fred Aniol; sisters, Agnes Miller, Emily Padalecki and Carol Thoms. Obituary: Jim Holzhauser 83, of Houston, passed away on 10, 2016. He was born in Eugene, MO in 1932. Jim graduated from Jefferson City High School and Junior in Jefferson City, MO. Jim served in Naval Aviation in aircraft maintenance from 1952-1956. He had many adventures while in naval air, one being his job to escort a helicopter that crashed and needed repairs, from Manila to Japan on a Japanese merchant marine LST ship with a Japanese crew of Forty-five who did not speak English. While in the Navy in Corpus Christi, Jim met the love of his life, his wife Neva. married in 1956 and moved to Houston. Jim is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Neva; his son, Jimmy Holzhauser and his wife, Linda; his daughter, Judy Gregg and her husband, John and granddaughter Jenna Holzhauser. His career in the plumbing supply industry began at Crane before joining Jim Stephenson & Associates Inc. for thirty-seven years. He was a manufactures representative of engineered plumbing products serving the South Texas area with offices in Houston, Corpus Christi and San Antonio. He retired in 1998 as Chairman of the Board after serving twenty-five years as President and CEO. Jim was a longtime member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. He served on the Pastoral Council, Senior Council and as a Eucharistic Minister. As a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 10995, St. Francis de Sales he was Past Deputy Grand Knight and Trustee. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop John L. Morkovsky Assembly # 2243 of Sugar Land where he was Past Faithful Admiral and Past Faithful Navigator. Jim was a volunteer at Memorial Herman Southwest Hospital serving as the Volunteer Coordinator of the Front Information Desk at the Wellness , a member of the Wellness Advisory Board, as well as the president of Memorial Herman Southwest Hospital Auxiliary Board of Directors and Board of Trustees. Jim was a member of Houston Chapter 50 of AARP, Inc. where he served several years as chapter president. He was a Chapter Liaison for AARP, serving the Southwest Houston Area for four chapters. Jim thoroughly enjoyed his volunteer work. He takes with him many memories of good times with family and friends, especially spending time with Joe and Quentina Brininstool and their family as well as Buck and Dottie James and their family. Visitation is , 15, 2016 from 6pm-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Forest Park Westheimer . A funeral service will be held on , 16, 2016 at 11am at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church 8200 Roos. |
