Obituary: Francis Dale Hokanson, 87, passed away on May 18, 2015 in Cypress, Texas. He was born on 21, 1927 in the Village of Wheaton, Minnesota, to parents, Oscar and Esther (Lindbloom) Hokenson. He graduated high school in 1944 and entered the United States Navy in 1945. He proudly served his country until his discharge in 1949. He then went to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone . He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration, attending the University of Corpus Christi, Delmar , and the University of Houston, all located in Texas. Mr. Hokanson furthered his education and went on to earn his Masters Degree and moved up from climbing telephone poles and installation, to a management position. He retired from Southwestern Bell on 22, 1982. On May 27, 1955, he married Freddye Miller in Calvary Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas. His place of worship was Sisseton Alliance Church in Sisseton, South Dakota and he was also a member of the Gideons. Mr. Hokanson is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Esther Hokenson; wife, Freddye Hokanson; brother, Wayne Hokenson; brother and sister-in-law, Spen and Lola Hokenson; and sister, Gloria Hallinan. He is survived by his sons, Mark and Stephen Hokanson; daughters, Rachael Meier and Rebecca Davis; granddaughters, Marissa Meier and Katrina Bruder; grandson, Johnny Bruder; along with numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Stephen Hokanson, Ed Hokenson, Michael Meier, Jimmy Davis, Daniel Feigelson, and David Hokenson. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm, , May 25, 2015 at Pat H. Foley & . Obituary: Services for Bill Fisk Hoit will be 11:00 am , 13, 2014 at Lamar Baptist Church, 1000 W. Larmar Blvd, Arlington. Pastor Kevin Moore will officiate. Burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be (today) 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. Dr. Hoit went to be with his Lord, , 7. Dr. Hoit was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on 29th, 1925. In World War II, 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. With his specialty, as a Naval Intelligence Officer, Bill transferred into the Naval Reserve in of 1946, and continued his service until 1950. In of 1947 he married is wife, Ann, who after 60 years preceded him into heaven. Dr. Hoit joined the Mathematics Department of the University of Texas, Arlington, teaching through 1985. He and Ann operated a highly successful Real Estate organization until their final years. Notably, they were active in the church life of Arlington, assisting in the establishment of churches, including Lamar Baptist and Northwest Baptist Churches. Bill was also actively involved in government interests, making his presence known even in Washington circles. However, he is best known for his concern for people, particularly the less fortunate. His generosity is legendary among his fellow church friends and others around the community. Many young college students were encouraged and assisted to reach their educational goals, because of quiet contributions and support from Dr.Bill. His generosity also extended to universities, such as Baylor, Dallas Baptist, and others. Dr. Hoit departed to join his beloved wife, Ann on , 7th. He is survived by his Brother-in-Law, Herman Gilliam and wife, Quata, Nephews Mike Gilliam and spouse Debra of Texarkana, TX, Aaron Gilliam of Austin, AR, and Andrew Gilliam of Texarkana, TX, as well as Grand Nephew Chris Gilliam and Spouse Lynn of Bedford, TX.
