Obituary: Charles James Hock, 75, passed away in his home on 29, 2017. Charles (Charlie) was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended High School in Snyder, Texas before obtaining his Bachelor Degree in History at Stephen F. Austin State University. several careers, he settled on being a Life & Insurance Agent, where he could act as an advocate for the elderly and bring peace of mind to his many clients and their families. Charlie was a lifelong outdoor sports enthusiast. Hunting, fishing and golf were his favorites. In later years he also became an accomplished dart player. Always a generous and caring man, Charlie devoted himself to his family, friends, church and community. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Ward Hock and son, Roy Clint Hock, both of Houston, Texas. He will be missed. Since his first childhood trip to Yellowstone National Park, Charlie was passionate about Americas wild places. Obituary: Robert (Bob) A. Hochstein, 83, formerly from Port Lavaca passed away 6, 2015. He was born in Randolph, NE to the late Lawrence and Cecilia Stevens Hochstein on 2, 1932. Upon graduation from St. Frances High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During Bobs 21 years career as a radar technician, he served oversees during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Bob married the love of his life, Marilyn M. Allar on 20, 1956. During their 55 years of marriage, they lived in several states and two other countries. In 1971, they made their home in Port Lavaca when Bob was stationed at Matagorda Island. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1973. retirement Bob worked for 2 years at ALCOA. He then had a second career as an electrician for Brown & Root. Bob finished his professional career as an electrical inspector for Testenger Engineering. Bob was a devout Roman Catholic and, until his battle with dementia, an active member of the choir and Knights of Columbus. He loved the Knights of Columbus and spent countless hours making fish patties for fair week, delivering Christmas presents to needy kids, working Bingo, and serving as various officers, including Grand Knight. Bob was a fix-it-man extraordinaire. If he didn know how to repair something, he would tinker with it until he figured it out. He was a generous giver of his time, volunteering his electrical expertise to the church, fixing lighting, fans, and air conditioning. He was a voracious reader; it was rare to find a subject that Bob didn know something about. He was a hard worker and prided himself on a job well done. Bob loved the outdoors, and if he wasn at deer camp, he was getting ready for camp or thinking about deer camp. He shared that passion for hunting with his son, Steve. Bob also enjoyed gardening, golf, and bowling. He was a very kind man, even in his final years when his health was failing and loneliness was a constant, he maintained his grace and sense of humor. He left a lasting impact on his caregivers, who provided such loving care in his last several years. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his sisters, Gladys Borst and Marilyn LeClaire, and his brother, David Hochstein. He is survived by his children: Steve (Liz) Hochstein from Pearland, Cindy (Roland) Garza from Richmond, and Patty (Gary) Weaver from Port Lavaca; his brother, Al (Aleen) Hochstein from Tennessee; and his grandchildren: Alana, Jason, and Chris Hochstein, Robert, Taran, and Reagan Garza, and Justin, Jordan, Jared, Jenna, and Jamie Weaver. Visitation will be held , 10 from 6:00 - 7:00pm at Richardson Colonial , with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm in the funeral chapel. Mass will be , 11 at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Father Tommy Chen officiating. Pallbearers are: Jason Hochstein, Chris Hochstein, Robert Garza, Taran Garza, Justin Weaver, and Jared Weaver. A light lunch will be served immediately following the Mass. A Private family burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Capital Campaign or Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School. |

Obituary: Marilyn M. Hochstein 76 of Port Lavaca passed away 8, 2011. She was born in Carroll, NE to the late Joseph and Lydia Pflanz Allar. Marilyn was a very active member of Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church, a charter member of The Catholic Daughters, and an active member of the Altar Society, and Jesus Caritas (formerly St. Vincent DePaul). She also served on the board of the local chapter of Catholic Life. Marilyn enjoyed her work with her favorite charities, spending time with her family, and her hobbies included: bowling, sewing, golfing, gardening, and cooking for others. Marilyn was known for her outstanding cooking, her infectious laugh, and her generous heart. Marilyn truly enjoyed the life of an Air Force wife. She enjoyed moving to different parts of the country and she did everything she could to make each move a wonderful adventure for the family. Bob and Marilyn made their home in Port Lavaca in 1971 when Bob was stationed at Matagorda Island . She quickly immersed herself into the community, the church, and supporting her childrens activities. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Bob Hochstein; her son, Steve Hochstein and wife , Liz of Pearland; daughters, Cindy Garza and husband ,Roland of Richmond, and Patty Weaver and husband Gary of Port Lavaca; 2 sisters, Rosella Mueret of Brunswick, NE and Velma Gries of Norfolk, NE.; and 11 grandchildren. Visitation will be at 6 pm followed by a Rosary at 7 pm on , 12, 2011 at the Richardson Colonial . Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on , 13, 2011 at Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church. Obituary: Ina Lee Bleeker-Hochstedler, 91, of Temple, Texas passed away 18, 2017. Born to Ina and James Bleeker on 21, 1925. Shortly after Inas birth, her family relocated from Hillsboro to the Rogers area where she grew up with her four brothers and one sister. Ina married Eugene Leonard Hochstedler, 2, 1944, and they moved to the Little Flock Community East of Temple where she resided until 2011. The property of the Little Flock Community was a 60 acre farm where Ina and Eugene raised three children and tended to their farm of corn, pigs and cows. She was a kind hearted, warm, caring and hard working woman who was vital to the Hochstedler family. Until Ina was 88 years old, she tended to her garden, which was an acre and a half of all kinds of plants, flowers and vegetables; red roses being her favorite. Ina found joy in sharing the crops she grew with her friends and family, always sending her loved ones home with fresh eggs, fruits and vegetables. Ina was an active member of the Dyss Grove Baptist Church for nearly her entire life. Ina is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Eugene L. Hochstedler; her Son, Leonard Hochstedler of Georgia. Ina Lee is survived by her other two children, W. Robert Hochstedler, of Temple and Ina Darlene Kinkade of North Carolina; Grandchildren Beverly Jackson , James Brown, Sherry Hochstedler , Jim Hochstedler and Tracy Hochstedler; Ina also leaves behind 18 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, and 5 generations of nieces, nephews and extended family. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm , 22, 2017 at Crawford-Bowers , Temple, Texas.
