Obituary: Margaret M. Heyde, (Peggy) of San Antonio, Texas passed away on 9, 2014 just nine days short of her 80th birthday. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and many close friends. Peggy graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University where she fostered many lifelong friendships. As well as being an excellent student, she was very active in extra-curricular activities; performing in several drama productions and serving as student body president. graduation, she married the love of her life, Francis L. Heyde and began her career in education. She taught in the San Antonio and South San Antonio Independent School Districts as well as for the Defense Language Institute at Lackland AFB before becoming an author of the curriculum for the DLI. One particular highlight of her career with DLI was her extended stay in Indonesia. While on that side of the globe, she visited Egypt, Israel, and other Middle Eastern countries. Add this to her yearlong stay with her husband in Tehran, Iran and an extended European vacation and she was quite the world traveler. Frank insisted that Peggy retire from DLI in 1994 so they could spend more time together. More important to her than her career as an educator was her life as a wife, mother and grandmother. Peggy was completely devoted to her husband and family. She was a true partner to her husband Frank. did everything together from shopping and laundry to camping and extensive travel. She was a wonderful hostess at their many backyard parties for friends and family. She did not really need an occasion to have a party. She was also a hands on Mom who was very involved in her childrens lives, both while they lived at home and after they were married and out of the house. She was oftentimes a Room Mother and was active in the PTA in her childrens schools. She spent countless hours chauffeuring her children to and from dance classes, swimming lessons, football practice, and music lessons. She seldom missed a performance, game or meet. When she was blessed with grandchildren, she was a wonderful grandmother. She loved spending time alone with her grandchildren as well as attending their many activities. She did a lot of babysitting over the years and of course the grandchildren were always perfect angels while their parents were away. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. Heyde; her mother, Beatrice Slavin; her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Robert Graham. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Susan and Terry Powell, Douglas and Angela Heyde, and Frank and Cheryl Heyde; her precious grandchildren, Cory and Kevin Powell, Leann Heyde, Emily Payne and husband Gavin, Rachel and Grace Heyde. Obituary: My Tribute to Paula

I want to begin by thanking everyone who has corresponded in this memorial and Paulas obituary comments. I also humbly thank each of you who sent cards, food and prayers. Above all, I thank Our Savior, Jesus, for giving me the 20 year experience of Paula and her loving family.

I met Paula in 1990. I was an elder at Pantego Bible Church and Paula was the worship leader. Due to our fallen nature, both of our marriages were in trouble. We did not succeed in saving our first marriages. We did desire to start over and to re-dedicate our marriage together to serve our God. We were united in this. Against challenging odds we did accomplish this. God does forgive and we did receive His blessing and input as we went forward.

From the beginning, Paula had a very deep trust and faith in God. She loved Him with all her heart. She studied His word at Celebration Fellowship Church under the leadership of James and Laura Reeves. Paula and Laura became friends and together they hosted dozens of church events at our home. Literally thousands of people have received the hospitality of my beautiful and kind Paula. She cooked, cleaned, washed, sewed, painted, baked, and entertained with no thought of repayment for herself. Much more than that, I can testify to the fact that Paula spent thousands of hours listening, consoling, counseling, and praying with many of these friends and our children. This was her greatest gift. Paula went deep with people. Often praying and talking with our children and others until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. Paula offered council that honored our Lord. She absolutely was my prayer warrior! She prayed for me, my patients, and our family every day. She studied scripture and played the piano for BSF at Lake Arlington Baptist Church for 2 years. There she met Ginger Crowson. She and Ginger would go on to walk almost every morning for several years and memorize over 300 scripture verses together. Paula was an accomplished pianist and used her gift to entertain others and praise God. She never sought the limelight, although by human standards she was a fantastic musician and was worthy of star status.

There was a feminine side to Paula. I was the recipient of this gift. Even breast cancer, hormone deprivation, pain, surgery, and excessive medication could not overcome her ability to be a beautiful, responsive woman. All I can say is she was incredible!

Did we ever fight? Actually no! We did have our disagreements, and most of the time she was right. I miss her input in every capacity. She said oh youll be fine if I die. I don feel fine now, but time will probably prove her right again. We both leaned heavily on Romans 8:28 as we went through this cancer fight. We tried every possible treatment. In the end, God did heal Paula. He took her from my arms to His. I can possibly imagine her awe and joy at the Majesty, Glory, and Peace she received entering into His presence. This fact gives me peace. If you ever want to do us a favor, read John 3:16. If you haven asked Him to be your Savior, do it!! For all of history He will be knocking at your door. Revelation 3::20 Action on this decision is everything.

Paula I love you,

Wayne
