Obituary: Charlie Woodson Henderson Jr., age 88, of San Angelo died , 17, 2013. He was born 19, 1924 near Anson, Texas to Charlie Henderson Sr. and Clarice Faustine Thornton. He married Mary Liniouse Cundiff shortly before he joined the United States Navy on 26, 1943 and went through boot camp in San Diego, California. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy World War II Submarine Corp and served on the USS Atule 403 in the South Pacific. He was a qualified submariner and holds a submarine combat pin. He was also assigned to temporary submarine relief crews on the Orion and Sperry. He was discharged from the U.S. Navy in Boston, Massachusetts on 12, 1946.
Charlie served 26 years in the U.S. Border Patrol and throughout his career was stationed in El Centro, California, Florida and a number of Texas towns. Charlie patrolled on horseback and flew helicopters. He had many experiences as a border patrolman and was a gifted storyteller, always eager to share his colorful tales to those that would listen. He retired from the U.S. Border Patrol on 12, 1977.
retirement he served eight years as Judge of Presidio in Texas. One of his proudest accomplishments was working with the Texas Historic Commission to restore the county courthouse which was originally built in 1886.
Charlie was an active member of the community and belonged to a number of organizations. He sat on many committees and served on many boards throughout his life. He joined the Lions Club in 1957 and was a lifetime member. He was active in Lions work for 50 plus years only slowing down as his health declined. He is past president of the Marfa Lions Club and also the West side Lions Club in 2007-2008. He was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees and Friends of San Angelo State Park. Charlie was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being the District 6 Director of the Texas Trappers and Fur Hunters Association in the 1990s. He has been honored with numerous awards and honors; too many to list.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Henderson Sr. and Clarice, his brother Virgil, his first wife of 50 plus years Liniouse, and daughter Charlotte Henderson.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Dot) Corbell; son Charlie Henderson III and his wife Anne from Kyle, TX; one granddaughter Sharon Thompson and her husband Jeff of Wimberley, TX; grandsons Guy Bowen and his wife Shannon from New Braunfels, TX, Bret Bowen of Austin, TX and Chad Bowen and his wife Kari of Round Rock, TX; and great-grandsons Jake and Johnnie. Also surviving him are his brothers Arvis and James. He is survived by his sisters in-law Mary Ann Beck and Andy Beck.
service will be 2:00 p.m. , 20, 2013 at Johnsons Chapel with Rev. AV Henderson officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be from the Lions Club.

Obituary: Charles E. Henderson Sr., age 89, of Austin, TX, entered into eternal rest 3, 2016. He was born 1, 1926, in Chillicothe, Texas, and moved to Austin with his family at an early age.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Laura Wauneta Henderson, and a sister Betty Morris. Charles is survived by his wife Dollie Elliott Henderson of almost 71 years, his son Gene and wife Tina of Austin. Grandchildren, Krista Buffaloe and husband Justin, of Nokomis, Florida, and Kelley Henderson and Clarence Walker of Plano, Texas. Great grandchildren, Emma Buffaloe and Aubrey Walker. He is also survived by his brothers Clinton Henderson Sr. and Wesley G. Henderson, both of Austin, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Charles and Dollie met and both worked at the Eddie Joseph North Austin drive-in theatre and married on 26, 1945, in Austin, Texas, and celebrated over 70 years of happily married life, always being together up until his final days. Family and friends will always remember his love of family gatherings during the holidays.

Charles was raised in Austin and joined the Navy at 17 years old after his mother passed away. He returned to Austin and met and married Dollie and they enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, and gardening. Charles took great pride in keeping his yard beautiful with numerous plants and flowers. He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and served on many committees. He was an avid HAM radio operator (W5ALD) for many years. He remained in the Naval Reserve and retired from the Navy after 20 years and retired from the Texas Highway Department Right of Way Division, after more than 38 years. His biggest joy after retirement was spending time with his granddaughters, Krista and Kelley, and Pawpaw loved making crafts and playing games with them and cooking for them. He always attended their dance recitals, band concerts, basketball games and other school activities.

Visitation will be , 12, 2016, from 5 - 8PM at Cook-Walden , 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas. Service will be , 13, 2016, at 11AM at Cook-Walden . Burial to follow at Cook-Walden/Capitol Parks, Pflugerville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 5701 Cameron Road, Austin, TX, or to a memorial of your choice.

Obituary: FORT WORTH -- Charles "Chuck" D. Henderson Jr., 75, passed away , Oct. 12, 2015, from cancer.



Service: 3 p.m. in Laurel Land Chapel of the Chimes. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. at Laurel Land in Fort Worth.



Chuck was raised in Lepanto, Ark., and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1961. He moved to Fort Worth in 1963 and began a 38-year career in engineering at General Dynamics, now Lockheed. His hobbies included playing bridge, classic cars and going to swap meets and car shows. He had a lifelong love of collecting Lionel trains and built an amazing Lionel rail system that ran through his home, built to exacting, engineer detail! He was also a Cowboys fan, NASCAR and other sports.



He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Lynn Roberts, in 1978.



Survivors: Wife, Mary Jane; son, Kevin and wife, Kim, of Cookeville, Tenn.; daughter, Kim Henderson of Evans, Ga.; stepson, Daniel McKesson and wife, Dee; stepdaughter, Trudy Morgan and husband, Doug. Chuck was a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren.

Obituary: Charles Bud Richard Henderson, more affectionately Pawpaw, was born May 25, 1933 in Pampa, Texas. Bud spent his entire life dedicated to his family, his church, and his country. He joined the Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean War. During that time he was sending his money home to help support his family. serving in the military he married Lavelle in 1955. were happily married until Lavelles passing in of last year.
Bud made several contributions to his country outside of serving in Korea. He worked as an electrical engineer after graduating from Texas A&M in 1960. He holds several U.S. Patents as a result of his efforts. He worked with a very small team to develop and hone a very sophisticated missile defense system for the U.S. government. His crowning achievement was working with the U.S. Postal Inspector, developing the bar-coding and sorting system used by the United States Postal Service today.
Bud, like his wife Lavelle, was also an active member of his church serving as the church treasurer and a member of the church vestry for many years. In his community he was a member of the Rock Creek Mens Bar-b-que club. He was also an active golfer, taking up the hobby upon his retirement. Above all, he was a dedicated family man, a beloved grandparent, and the all important patriarch of his family.
Bud leaves behind his son Mark Henderson and wife Lesa, his daughter Robin Luecke and her husband Bob, his nephew Jay Henderson; and four grandchildren Kelsi, Aaron, Brittani, and Blake. He will be honored 8, 2014 at St. Andrews Anglican Church at 11am. Visitation will be held at the Moore on 7, 2014 at 6pm.
