Obituary: Services for Bessie Mae Harrison, 97, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 6, 2017 in the Gipson Chapel, with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Interment services will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Holly Grove in Livingston. Mrs. Harrison was born to Leona (Mayfield) and William Hill on 5, 1919 in Troup, Texas, the 8th of 9 children. She passed away , 2, 2017 at Castle Pines & Rehabilitation . She lived in Troup until her late teens, when she moved to Houston to find work. In 1939, she met Donnie Louis Harrison, and they were married later that year in Beaumont, Texas, where they resided for a time. had three sons and lived and worked in Beaumont, Corpus Christi and Houston, then Anahuac for a number of years where she operated a small store. In 1959, they moved to Votaw, Texas, the old Harrison homestead, where she operated another store and where they operated a small lumber mill for many years. In 1993, they moved to Lufkin, Texas to be closer to medical care. Mr. Harrison passed away in 2000. Bess continued to live in the home independently until 2016 and then resided at Castle Pines until her passing. Bess was always a hard worker and a country woman who enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, riding a 3-wheeler in the woods where she could shoot and hunt with the best of them, and knew the woods better than most men. She had many stories to tell of her escapades as a young woman, and, truth be told, I suspect she was quite a wild character as a young woman! Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed hearing the stories of her early life. Her longevity and good memory made her the historian of the family, and we all took advantage of her memory to learn of the family roots and the family history. moving to Lufkin, she took up bowling at the age of 85, and bowled on a senior league for many years. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and was always welcoming to all who came to her door. Bess was a Christian woman, a member of Southside Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas and had a deep faith in God, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in the community wherever she lived, well thought of by her many friends and neighbors. The family would like to especially thank her friend and neighbor Betty Crane for being so caring and helpful. She is survived by two sons, Edwin Jack Harrison and his wife Pat of Jasper, Texas and Perry Louis Harrison of Crosby, Texas; daughter-in-law, Jan Harrison of Huntington, Texas; eight grandchildren, Linda Tinsley of Huntington, Donnie (Bud) and Beverly Harrison of Huntington, Melinda and Preston Brown, Rhonda Behnken and Stacy Sicinski of Houston, Jerald and Erin Harrison of Canyon Lake, Tammy and Larry Bonner of Lufkin, Toni Harrison of Votaw, and Tracy and Mark Milina of Galveston; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bess was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Louis Harrison; brothers and sisters, Henry, Faye, Jack, Veila, Ozark, Ossie, Ernest and Mary; one son, William (Bill) Harrison, daughter-in-law, Edie Harrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Bessie Mae Harrison lived a long, productive life, blessed with good health and a sharp mind until the end. She was a strong woman and passes on a strong family who will miss her dearly, but the wisdom and knowledge she leaves with us will live on in our memory of her. She will be sorely missed. Obituary: Bessie Harrison, 91, passed away 12, 2015. She was born 1, 1924 in Danbury, Connecticut to Nicholas and Tessie Kaplanis. Bessie graduated from Danbury High School in 1942 and was described in the yearbook as ambitious, kind-hearted and generous. She worked as a nurse and homemaker who played basketball and baseball. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, Harry. She was actively engaged with and supportive of her family members and exceptionally generous towards her loved ones. She was very proud of her Greek heritage. Bessie is preceded in death by her husband Harry L. Harrison and only daughter Anne-Marie Turley. Obituary: Benjamin Marshall Harrison passed away on 1st, 2014. Ben was born in Dallas 27, 1969 and lived most of his life in the Dallas Area. He graduated from R.L. Turner High School in 1987. Ben worked in the banking industry for several different banks in the Dallas area mostly in the automotive finance area. Ben lived life to the fullest. As a devoted Father to his son Marshall, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, Scuba diving, and many other manly activities. He was a caring person that would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Those who knew him, knew that you could truly be yourself around Ben because he was an open book. Ben will be missed tremendously by his friends and family. Ben is survived by his wife Kim and his son Marshall as well as his sister Honey Harrison and his mother Terry Thurman. Ben will be buried in Arlington next to his sister Natalie Harrison Gandy who passed about a year ago from cancer. Obituary: Barbara J. Harrison, 68, of Amarillo died 14, 2014. Service will be 10:00 A.M. , 20, 2014 at Family Life Church with Pastor Dale Travis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens . are by Schooler , 4100 South Georgia. Barbara was born 28, 1945 in Colorado City, Texas to Lawrence Hendrickson and Alta Arnold Hendrickson. Barbara moved to Amarillo in 1956. She married Larry Harrison on 3, 1963. She was an RN and had worked as an RN for more the 40 years, mostly for Northwest Texas Hospital. She retired from Northwest Texas Surgical on Soncy. Barbara was a member of Family Life Church since it started nearly 20 years ago. She loved cooking for her family as well as sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed time with Larry traveling with the Allegro Funseekers RV Club. Her family and friends were so important to her also. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Linda Gore and Alice Grant. Barbara is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughter Debra Harrison of Bandera; her son David Harrison and wife Kim of Amarillo; her grandchildren Thayne Harrison and wife Cara and Sarah Harrison; her sister Peggy Gore and husband Gene of Amarillo and several nieces and nephews. Obituary: Anthony Charles Harrison, 23, and Tricia Renee Harrison, 42, both of The Woodlands, TX passed away tragically on 28, 2010. Anthony was born 6, 1987 in Nassau Bay, TX. He is survived by his mom and stepfather Lori and Ed Flemma; father Timothy Harrison; maternal grandparents Tony & Judith Sherrouse; sisters Scarlett Morris and husband Chris, Morgan Morrison and Eddie Flemma; niece and nephew Emma and Jackson Morris; along with numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Anthony graduated from Leakey High School, was employed by Pappasitos Restaurant and was a very talented artist. Tricia was born 26, 1968 in Jackson, TN. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Cecil and Nellie Pitts, Heyward and Mildred Hair. Tricia is survived by her parents Edward and Jane Hair; brother Shannon Hair and wife Angela; sisters Penny Porsch and husband Brian, Tanya McAvoy and husband Ryan; nieces and nephews Mitchell, Mason, Matthew and Victoria Hair, Olivia and Jett Porsch, Caleb and Sarah Jane McAvoy; along with numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Tricia graduated from Humble High School and attended FCCJ and was a nurses assistant in FL and marketing representative for Med-Im Development in The Woodlands, TX for many years. Anthony and Tricia both loved being around their family and friends and spending time outdoors.
