Obituary: Lillian Pawlik Hargis, 83, passed away on 28th, 2015 in The Woodlands, Tx. To know Lillian was to know someone special. She was a kind and caring person devoted to her large family and her Catholic faith. She was born in Falls City, Tx to John D. and Florence Ann Pawlik on 20, 1932. She was an active member in The Assistance League of Houston for over 20 years, treasurer of the Buy Low Babes Investment Club, and volunteered in the Houston Open Golf Tournament for many years. She had a love of travel and music and was a tour guide for Dan Dipert Tours traveling extensively in the US, Canada and Europe. She and her husband moved to The Woodlands in 1992 and shortly afterwards joined the Pavilion Partners. Both Jesse and Lillian were awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2013 after 20 years of service to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Jesse Hargis Jr of The Woodlands; daughter, Janice Staub (Randy) of West Vancouver, BC; son, Terry (Yvonne) of Canton, MS; grandson, Maxwell Hargis; granddaughter, Molly Staub; step grandchildren, Julia and Sophia; five brothers, Dan (Melba), John, Emil (Karen), Wilfred, and Bobby (Peggy); sister, Mary Louise (Ken) Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Marietta Bell Pawlik and Mary Pfeifer Pawlik. Nieces and Nephews include: Bobby, Johnny, Eddie (Robin), Rob (Susan), Danny (Nancy), Mike (Carol), Steve, Cindy (Paul) Sorensen, Karen Robinson, Pauline, Sandy (Robert) Gonzalez, Ginger ( Rick) Dernehl, Mary Lou Fragile, Jimmy (Holly), Toni (Travis) Schaar, Cheryl (Joe) Flood, Jo Ella (Robert) Wagner, Tim (Carrie), Jim and Kerry Johnson, Michael (Jamie), Debbie (Drew) Hanson, Jeff (Nicole), Suzy (Matt) Colbert, Will, Lory (Ricardo) Suzuki, Randall (Lisa), Debbie Hargis, Pat Hargis, and Jim (Eileen) Walker. Obituary: Jesse W. Hargis Jr., 88 passed away peacefully on May 22nd, 2016 in The Woodlands, TX. To know Jesse was to know someone fully devoted to his wife, his family, his work as an oil man, and Texas A&M. He was a man of his era, a family man, a company man, an honest hard working man who valued education, honesty and responsibility. Jesse was born in East Bernard, TX on 12, 1928 to Mathilda (Tillie) Sykora and Jesse Washington Hargis, Sr. He grew up on a farm, 4 miles southwest of East Bernard during the depression and World War II. Growing up, his family all called him Junior, which made him proud. He entered Texas A&M University during the summer of 1944. He was in the Corp of Cadets and lettered in Track and Cross-Country and was Captain of the Cross-Country team his senior year. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1948. Jesse went to work with J.S. Abercrombie Co. in Sweeny, TX. Two years later, he received an offer from Uncle Sam he couldn turn down. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953, serving in the Korean War. He was stationed in New York City, a city he loved so such that he spent his honeymoon there, returned many times over his lifetime especially during Thanksgiving, and also celebrated his 80th birthday in Times Square surrounded by family. Upon discharge he returned to the oilfield. Jesse later attended the University of Houston and received a Masters of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1960. Jesse married Lillian Agnes Pawlik on 19, 1955. had two children, Janice and Terry and enjoyed an active life of family, football games, golf and travel for almost 60 years, spearheaded by Lillian who supposedly dragged him everywhere, but we all know he enjoyed every minute. Jesse was especially fond of the yearly tradition of spending Christmas in Palm Springs, where the family golfed, visited the zoo and ate at the finest restaurants, something Jesse and Lillian truly enjoyed. Jesse worked in the oil industry for over 40 years and retired from Mobil Oil Corp. with 32 years of service. he retired, he and Lillian moved to The Woodlands in 1992 where he settled in to a full life of working at Willow Creek golf course part time, and volunteer work. Jesse and Lillian joined the Pavilion Partners where they were eventually awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2013 after 20 years of service to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Jesse is survived by his son, Terrance (Yvonne) of Canton MS; Janice (Randy) Staub of Vancouver, B.C.; grandson, Maxwell; granddaughter, Molly; step grandchildren, Julia and Sophia; Nieces and Nephews include; Debbie Hargis, Pat Hargis, Jim (Eileen) Walker; Bobby, Johnny, Eddie (Robin) Pawlik, Rob (Susan), Danny (Nancy), Mike (Carol), Steve, Cindy Pawlik (Paul) Sorensen, Karen Robinson, Pauline, Sandy (Robert) Gonzalez, Ginger (Rick) Dernehl, Mary Lou Fragile, Jimmy (Holly) Pawlik, Toni (Travis) Schaar, Cheryl (Joe) Flood, Jo Ella (Robert) Wagner, Tim (Carrie) Pawlik, Jim and Kerrie Johnson, Michael (Jamie) Pawlik, Debbie (Drew) Hanson, Jeff (Nicole) Pawlik, Suzy (Matt) Colbert, Will, and Lory (Ricardo) Suzuki, Randall (Lisa). Obituary: Ernestine Medlin-Hargis was born on 29, 1927 in Calhoun , Alabama to James and Leola Reynolds. She was one of ten children and passed away 13, 2015. Her father was a cotton farmer until the family moved to Alexander City, where Ernestine worked in a cotton mill until she married her first husband Ned D. Medlin. had three children and during their marriage lived in Germany, Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia; finally moving to Dallas, Texas, where she lived the rest of her days. A homemaker her whole life, Ernestine loved to sew, quilt, cook and had even learned upholstery. She was also fond of playing Scrabble and dominoes. Flowers were a source of joy and happiness for her, pink carnations being one of her favorites. She loved to grow roses, tending and caring for them. Her children would joke saying she took more care of the roses than them. She was also very active in her church, being particularly active in School, Missions Group and Baptists Women’s Group. As a military wife, she was active in the military wives NCO club. Ernestine Medlin-Hargis was preceded in death by her first husband, Ned Medlin, in 1988 and later her second husband, Joel Hargis, in 2003. She was survived by her three children, Richard Daniel Medlin and his wife, Bernadette, Brenda Jeannine Watterman and her husband, Jim Watterman, and Sharon Bonita Talbert and her husband, Bill Talbert; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Nelson Reynolds. All remember her as a gracious and loving mother and grandmother. Hargis and wife, Terry Hargis; two daughters, Jo Ann Norlin and Mary Ellen McCammon and husband, Dan McCammon; four grandchildren, Matthew E. Hargis, Monica L. Hargis, Charles D. McCammon and Erin M. McCammon; sisters, Irene Mary Barker and Mary Esther Olsen; and sister-in-law, Jane Janyssek. Eleanor was very active in the Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society for over fifty years serving as president for several terms. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, bowling, her children and beloved grandchildren, her extended family and her many friends. Eleanor was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. |
