Obituary: The Lord took our right hand man, Marvin Hajek to be by his side on , 8, 2014. Marvin was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral and DaCosta Hermann Sons Lodge #265-2 where he held a treasurer position for many years. He was chosen Humanitarian of the year in 2013. He was a member of the South Texas Wheel Spinners & Crank Twisters Antique Tractor Club. He enjoyed participating in parades with his 1947 Ford Tractor in which he won many 1st place trophies.
He was born on 6, 1935 to Charles and Olga Janca Hajek in Shiner, Texas. He was raised on a farm and learned to work very hard as a child. This work ethic stuck with him all his life and was passed on to the next generations.
In 1956 with all his charm he stole the heart of LaVerne Muehlstein. On 3, 1957 they married and this year they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Over the years they were blessed with four children Sheryl and (Werner) Schmidt, Daryl and (Michelle) Hajek, Neal and (Sallie) Hajek and La Sher and (James) Bartay. have 10 grandchildren and 2 great -grandchildren and a third on its way. (Arthur James arrived May 6, 2015.) There was another love in his life Ellie his Chihuahua. She watched over him day and night, where he went, she went too. took naps in the recliner and when he would move to another place she would sit on his foot so he could not go without her. He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Stock of Sugarland and brother, Laddie and (Doris) Hajek of Shiner. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Florine and (James) Stluka and brother-in-law, Willie Stock.
Early in their life together Marvin worked very hard as a mechanic and shortly after he and his family moved to Victoria, he worked 20 years for Leonard Kovar Ford. There he was known as Starvin Marvin the car salesman. Those shined up boots and western hat made many a mile delivering cars to nearby cities. Those were the days when your new car was delivered to you. You signed the paperwork at the kitchen table and then drove the old clunker back to Victoria.
While his children were young he and LaVerne took them on camping trips with close friends and created lasting memories for them. He also played the trumpet in polka bands near and far for many occasions. As he would travel and pass by a dance hall he would let us know that he had played there and some were mighty cold. The people had to dance to stay warm.
Over the years Marvins love for farming and ranching was his pride and joy. On his way to the farm he made s in Shiner his coffee stop to meet with his Shiner friends. This was part of his full time job after retiring. He did all his own hay baling and also did custom baling for others. Together, he and LaVerne took pride in their gardens. One garden wasn enough; there was one at home and one at the farm. Friends will remember the wonderful watermelons and cantaloupes they raised. made noodles was another talent they mastered together.
In the early 80s he began to have heart trouble and even with having a triple bypass, 4 heart attacks and a stroke he continued to work hard for many years. He always said a cat had 9 lives, but a good Bohemian has 10.
It was a total shock to find out in that he had cancer. Just like anything else though he gave it all he had and did it with such courage. He had his cheerleaders keeping him going and encouraging him daily. We never thought cancer would take him from us after having heart trouble for over 30 years.
Now, we know he is made new again. He has no more pain and a new heart. He is walking the streets of gold playing his trumpet with endless air. Im sure there are a few cows for him to care for and a Chihuahua by his side. He will be deeply missed until we all meet with him again. May he rest in peace in the arms of his Father in Heaven.
Visitation will be held on , 11, 2014 from 6-7 PM at Rosewood Chapels with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM on , 12, 2014 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection .
Pallbearers are his nephews, Donald Hajek, Patrick Hajek, Randy Stock, Scott Muehlstein, Glen Muehlstein and Robert Muehlstein.
Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Brianne Porche, Haley Schmidt-Burton, Ashley, Cole, Dustin Aymee, Renee and Brice Hajek, Kyle Bailey and Avery Bartay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory Cathedral for masses or Building Fund or Hospice of South Texas.

The First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below,
With tiny lights, like heavens stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear.
For Im spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can compare with the Christmas choir up here.
For I have no words to tell you the joy their voices bring.
For it is beyond description to hear an angel sing.

I know how much you miss me; I see the pain inside your heart.
But Im not so far away, we really aren apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones, you know I hold you dear,
And be glad continued...
